This is taking the access of quallity participatory online education beyond tertiary level. It will also provide the opportunity for those who have been unable to complete high education to do so.

Introduction Sophisticated knowledge of the natural world is not confined to science. Human societies all across the globe have developed rich sets of experiences and explanations relating to the environments they live in. These 'other knowledge systems' are today often referred to as traditional ecological knowledge or indigenous or local knowledge.

Coming soon to MITx on edX is a new kind of MOOC-a MOOC to help high school students better prepare for college. Many students who arrive at college find themselves struggling with the courses they must take, as their high school experience has not provided them with the necessary preparation to do well at college....

I took this coursera course in the summer - Learning How to Learn - https://www.coursera.org/course/learning It was really well put together with lots of practical ideas to implement right away. It's being offered regularly and is only 4 weeks long, very worthwhile.

Concentrix Management (CM) is a model for distributing and managing information with the intent to cross pollinate ideas and concepts across sub-groups so that each part of the system knows about the 'whole' (of which all working groups within it reside) without overloading any one person.

One objective of the community domains forum discussions is to move our thinking from isolated subjects into a thought ecology, or whole-system design. The 22 Domains of Community Design are used as an overlay to any subject matter worth pursuing. For example, if you want to build a solar energy device, which would be under the 'Energy and Power' domain, the domains suggest there are far reaching influences across other domains of community design and ongoing development (i.e. a fractal nature to them) that influence our creative process.

I have been working on the creation of an online collaborative design environment that encompasses many aspects of human behavior, technical tooling, and interactive process. I seek collaborators and partners. At this link are hundreds of interesting links to tools, processes, and concepts that lead us to healthier social solutions through collaborative design.

En febrero de 2014 la Comisión Europea aprueba el proyecto ECO, donde un consorcio de 20 universidades y empresas europeas de 7 países diferentes se unieron para desarrollar un innovador programa de acreditación dirigido a profesores y profesoras. El objetivo es mostrar las estrategias de e-learning mediante cursos MOOC (Masivos, Abiertos y Online) de sólo 8 semanas de duración.

College textbooks cost too much - and something needs to be done about it, according to a report from the advocacy group U.S. PIRG. The College Board estimates that the average student in this country spends around $1,200 a year on books and supplies. A single book can cost as much as $200. This is why we need open textbooks!

Education situation around the world.When we talk about open education,we always focus on high level education such as college or graduate education.But, out of the U.S, such as Asia, Africa, there are many children who don't have chance to get better education, eager to learn more to change their fate.So, I hope open education can also concerning these edge people

Oscar's Art Books, an independent bookstore that has been operating for 24 years in Vancouver is shutting down. Chain bookstores were once thought to be the biggest threat to small, independent bookstores, but it appears the rise of e-books, not Chapters or Indigo is behind the demise of Oscar's Art Books. Appparently this is not the first bookstore to close the down due to people preferring e-books. What started this? Local bookstores are already competing with chain bookstores, but now, they have new threats that they have to face. If more and more people are turning to e-books, there may be possibility that printed will become a rare thing. There has been a lot of debates of printed vs. ebooks, by the looks of it, e-book is winning.

This is an open education tutorial that is designed to help people find the courses that they want to take. Provide directions on how to define success when taking an open education course so that you have a plan that you can execute. Finally it gives ways to stay motivated when taking and open education course so that you can fulfill your goals. This was created by a student in the OKMOOC.

it would be a good idea for all the African countries to have a similar list for all types of libraries. We have been struggling with a directory for African libraries , school libraries etc

a. Although this is a psychology article, it poses an important concern over the rise of internet addiction in connected populations. This article is relevant to this course, as it relates to the notion of critical consumption; some users are unable to filter information effectively, which should be recognized as a concern. Young states many statistics from educators and researchers discounting internet use in the classroom as it is far too distracting and the loss of productivity (in both students and the workforce) is immense.

Some might argue that this article shows the downside of connected learning and e-resources, however this is not the case. Certain web activities mentioned in the paper such as chat rooms, social media, and video games are not the focus of this course. Open Knowledge deals with the light side of the internet, which is the interconnectivity, the accelerated learning, and the ability to publish ones own content. The internet can definitely be misused, but not every web activity is "junk food". If someone obsessively became a mathematician and ultimately ended up being the best mathematician in the world due to "addiction" people would call him or her a genius. The trick is to filter which content and activities one engages in.
