This is my favorite article and it shows that old fashion publisher represent a barrier for knowledge flow, and they were misusing it. "Introduction:There is concern within democratic societies that a growing number of individuals are disconnecting from their role as citizens (Merritt and McCombs 2004: 47, Turner, G., 2005: 135, Dyrenfurth, N., 2005). Much of the blame for this disengagement has fallen upon the gatekeeping practices of journalism (Schechter, D., 2005: 70). These practices are often held to be counterproductive to journalism's primary purpose, which is to create an inclusive and diverse space for conversation between members of society about issues affecting their lives. Gatekeeping practices have the capacity to create gaps and silences, giving voice only to those already holding power. They give media corporations, politicians and large lobby groups the capacity to set the agenda on their terms and in their own best interests (Schechter, D., 2005: 70). "

After watching the Willinsky video, this hit home even more. I think the value of quality education is extremely important, and creating a "global village" of learning is still in its growing pains. Having a face-to-face instructor/professor/facilitator lets you ask the questions that pop to mind and being in a classroom setting allows an idea to flow and develop into other ideas. There are a lot of social media tools that are familiar to a lot of students living in a Western culture, but those social tools are not always available to developing countries; many do not have access to schools or even have a computer - as this article indicates, MOOCs are certainly a venue that opens learning opportunities for those who do not have access to learning in a formal environment, but may have access to the internet. What I particularly found interesting were the various MOOC categories - Gateway: MOOCs for prepping to get into higher learning; Research showcase: promote an institute's research areas; Professional skills: MOOCs for those who need to "upskill" or specialize…and there are others. The main reason for taking this course was to improve my knowledge of what social media is out there (MOOCs are part of it), how it is being used, and how useful is this "new" media is within the publishing realm. It is a challenge.

The possibilities of the Internet for higher Education are widely known, but they are not sufficiently exploited in México, especially given the recent expansion of the so-called Web 2.0. This article discusses the technologies utilized in the next generation of Internet Assisted Univer- sity Educational Programs, or University 2.0, particularly focusing on the potential that these types of innovations offer to blended learning modalities in Mexico. Blogs, Wikis and RSS are revisited, looking for the elements that help to shape the basis of a state of art, and so help to visualize the possible future of Mexican education in this globalized world.

Me gustó mucho la tabla de recursos y su clasificación, es interesante que sea de 2007, ya que presenta otros recursos que tal vez ahora nos parecen un poco desconocidos. Y es verdad, es muy necesario fomentar el acceso en México a los recursos libres y su uso en beneficio de la democratización de la información.

This is a very practical document that can be used for preparing school teachers. Information literacy skills are important skills that young people should aquire at schools, and teachers need to have specific training for this.

The report focuses on trade, copyright infringements, and the need to protect the products of creativity. The report discusses the subject globally. It is an extensive report that highlights the increased awareness of copyright protections and cooperation among different countries to legislate against infringements. Very helpful to see the scope of intellectual property rights concerns.

Many of the articles I have read through the course and videos that I have watched are showing big gab. We are living in places that most of the knowledge we are receiving in this course is new or not implemented at wide level. But one thing that you can be sure about in our papers, it is morally driven.

I think technology has very important role that we should mention. everything that we mentioned above is possible because of technology revolution. and here is the thing; the low-developing countries is the places that need education the most but people in those countries have minimum access to technology like internet and computer. So in this case, can open education really change the world?
