The awarded VBSN applications will:                        ·          Reduce barriers that prevent veterans from transitioning into nursing careers;                        ·          Develop BSN career ladder programs targeted to the unique needs of veterans;                        ·          Explore innovative educational models to award academic credit for prior health care experience/training or other relevant military training;                        ·          Address the growing national demand for BSN prepared Registered Nurses; and                        ·          Improve employment opportunities for veterans through high demand careers training as outlined in the Veterans Opportunity to Work under the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011, www.benefits.va.gov/VOW. For FY13, the Division of Nursing (DN) seeks four-year cooperative agreement applications that propose to develop and implement career ladder programs to increase the enrollment of veterans in BSN programs. 

The Nurse in Washington Internship (NIWI) Program is an annual event sponsored by the Nursing Organizations Alliance (The Alliance) and the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) is one of the participating organizations. The next NIWI Program is scheduled to be held March 15-17, 2015, in Arlington, Virginia (across the river from Washington DC). The Alliance sponsors the internship to promote the interests of its member groups through education, research, and health-policy activities. Over the years, more than one thousand nurses have attended NIWI, many of whom have become influential participants in the political process at state and federal levels. Deadline to apply is November 1, 2014.

Once again ACHNE is sponsoring funding for a research grant. The purpose of this funding is to provide seed money, pilot funding, or total funding for small studies with promising contributions to public health nursing (PHN) or PHN education.   The applicant must be a member of ACHNE, have a master's or doctoral degree or enrolled in a doctoral program.   The maximum amount of funding will be $5,000. Funds will be awarded at the ACHNE Annual Institute. Proposals must be submitted by February 1, 2014

The purpose of the Foster Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing (WOCN) Grant is to assist members of the American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association (APSNA) to further their professional education and expertise in the area of wound and ostomy care.

The National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) is offering up to twenty-nine (29) registration scholarships to attend the 29th Annual Educational Conference taking place October 2-5, 2013, at the Nashville Convention Center and Nashville Renaissance Hotel in Nashville, TN. Supported in part by a grant from Mead Johnson Nutrition, each scholarship award is equal to the early-bird conference registration rate ($220-$450) and will be distributed as a complimentary registration. Requirements - The scholarship is open to NANN members who have an interest in advancing their career and involvement in neonatal care, management and/or research. - NANN Board members, NANNP Council members, and NANN Program Planning Committee members are not eligible.

The AONE Foundation for Nursing Leadership Research and Education offers Research Seed Grants of up to $10,000 to support research projects related to nursing administration practice in the following areas: workforce, work environment, leadership development, technology/informatics, health systems, patient safety and evidence-based management practices. The AONE Foundation is now accepting proposals for the 2014 research seed grant program. Members and non-members are eligible to apply.  Proposals are due by October 1, 2013.

The Indian Health Service (IHS) is accepting applications for the American Indians into Nursing cooperative agreement program. The purpose of this IHS cooperative agreement is to augment the number of Registered Nurses, Certified Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners and Certified Nurse Anesthetists who deliver health care services to AI/AN communities. The primary objectives of this cooperative agreement grant award are to: (1) recruit and train individuals to be Registered Nurses (Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)) and Advance Practice Nurses (Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)); (2) provide scholarships to individuals enrolled in schools of nursing to pay tuition, books, fees, and stipends for living expenses; (3) provide a program that encourages nurses (DNP, MSN, BSN, ADN) to provide or continue to provide, health care services in health care programs; and (4) provide a program that increases the skills of, and provides continuing education to nurses (Graduate and Undergraduate).

Grants are available to AANP members who are practicing in an NP role.  Applicants must be certified Nurse Practitioners or graduate students scheduled to complete an eligible NP program by December 31, 2014.  Type of projects may include Research, Patient/Provider Education or Patient/Quality Improvement.  Applicants may receive up to $2,500 in grants. 

These scholarships are available to AANP members currently enrolled in an accredited NP graduate program in pursuit of an advanced degree or certification AND scheduled to graduate by December 31, 2014. Applicants must be licensed as a registered nurse. Students may receive up to $2,500 in scholarships. Only completed applications will be accepted and reviewed. Application deadline is November 15th.

Award: A $2,000.00 award, a plaque, and travel reimbursement to attend the Opening Ceremonies at ONS Congress. The paper will be published in the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing. Purpose: This award was established to focus attention of the membership on quality-of-life issues in cancer care; describe the contributions of clinicians, educators, administrators, and researchers in oncology nursing to quality of life in cancer care; apply information related to quality of life to oncology nursing practice; and incorporate the philosophy of quality of life into all aspects of cancer care. The lecture is presented at the ONS Annual Congress.

Award: $500 certificate for ONS educational resources/publications donated to the recipient's employer institution. (No cash prize to the individual recipient), a plaque, and travel reimbursement to attend the Opening Ceremonies at ONS Congress. Purpose: To recognize a Registered Nurse (RN) (or equivalent) who has contributed to the improvement of cancer care in a country outside the United States.

The Pediatric Endocrinology Nursing Society (PENS) Continuing Education Scholarship exists to enable pediatric endocrine nurses to advance their knowledge in the areas of endocrine and growth disorders, endocrine nursing research and current issues in pediatric endocrinology nursing. Scholarship recipients can use these funds for travel, lodging and registration expenses related to the PENS conference.

The Uniform Advantage-GNSA Scholarship Fund supports students who are seeking a master's or doctoral degree in nursing and are members of the Graduate Nursing Student Academy. The purpose of this scholarship is to support graduate nursing education and continue to positively impact the future of healthcare

he purpose of the NAT award is to provide traineeship support for licensed registered nurses enrolled as full-time students in an accredited graduate-level nurse anesthesia program.  Traineeship grants are awarded to accredited institutions that educate registered nurses to become nurse anesthetists and gives funding preference and special consideration to schools whose graduates work in areas that address rural, underserved and public health nursing needs. 

This announcement solicits applications for the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP). The purpose of this program is to increase the number of qualified nursing faculty by providing funding to accredited schools of nursing.  The NFLP is designed to prepare and train qualified nurse educators to fill faculty vacancies and increase the number of trained nurses entering the workforce.  This goal is accomplished by supporting schools of nursing that prepare students to serve as nurse faculty. 

This announcement solicits applications for the Nursing Workforce Diversity (NWD) program.  Program Purpose The NWD program increases nursing education opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, including racial and ethnic minorities that are underrepresented among registered nurses by using social determinants to guide the selection of evidence-based approaches that have been successful in retaining students from disadvantaged backgrounds in schools of nursing.

On behalf of the Governor's Office of Health Transformation (OHT), and the Ohio Departments of Medicaid (ODM), Health (ODH) and Higher Education (ODHE), the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC) is requesting applications from qualified investigators through the Infant Mortality (IM) Research Partnership to identify interventions and resources needed to improve health outcomes for underserved populations and address the complicated health issue of infant mortality from a systems perspective. The IM Research Partnership seeks to fund multiple research projects in areas including but not limited to: systems dynamics modeling of the impact of the following efforts on infant mortality: improved access to care, safe sleep, and impact of progesterone; predictive modeling for infant mortality; spatial GIS modeling for identifying high-risk communities; and evaluation of the impact of OIMRI home visiting programs.

The National Kidney Foundation recognizes that future improvements in the treatment and prevention of kidney disease will rest largely on the accomplishments of individuals now commencing their investigative work. To that end, the foundation has established a Young Investigator Grant Program. Through the program, NKF will award grants of up to $35,000 to individuals who have completed their fellowship training and who hold junior faculty positions at a university-affiliated medical center in the United States for research in the field of nephrology or a related discipline. Projects must be patient-oriented and may include but are not limited to the development of new technologies, mechanisms of human disease, educational or therapeutic interventions, epidemiological studies, health policy studies, and clinical trials. Individuals who have completed the fellowship training in an ACGME-accredited training program and who hold a junior faculty position (instructor or assistant professor) at a university-affiliated medical center in the United States are eligible to apply. The National Association of School Nurses, in partnership with the American Nurses Foundation, is accepting applications for the 2019 NASN/ANF Research Grant program. Through the program, the foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 in support of research projects focused on school nurse impact on health disparities, students with chronic health conditions, and student safety; innovative models of school nursing practice; cost-benefit analysis of school nursing; and/or impact of school nurse activities related to social determinants of health on student health and educational outcomes.
