Nursing Education Scholarship Awards - 0 views

    The mission of the NLN Foundation for Nursing Education is to raise, steward, and distribute funds that promote excellence in nursing education. To that end, the NLN Foundation Scholarship Awards program supports the goal of attracting more seasoned and ethnically diverse nurses to become nurse educators. Scholarships of up to $8,000 will be awarded to assist in the completion of nurses' graduate education, which could include tuition, support for a dissertation or thesis, or travel for classes or attendance at an onsite internship. To be eligible, applicants must be a nurse pursuing an advanced degree in preparation for a career as a full-time academic nurse educator. In addition, applicants must be a member of NLN either through individual dues or through their schools' NLN membership.

    The award program, which was created in 2004 to acknowledge nurses who have made a significant contribution to nursing education or practice through the development and/or adoption of a new technology, offers a $10,000 prize to an educator or practicing health professional whose innovation leads to improved patient care and patient care outcomes, and to an educator or practicing health professional whose innovation leads to improved health professions education and student outcomes. Entries will be judged on the technology's innovativeness and its impact on nursing education or direct patient care. The innovation must be new and be in use for six months or longer prior to submission of application. Applications must be submitted under one of the following categories: 1) Patient Care: improving efficiency of healthcare delivery, preventing/reducing errors, and improving outcomes, 2) Healthcare Education (both didactic and clinical): innovation in curricular delivery methods and improving student competency and learning outcomes.

Mary Nowotny Excellence in Cancer Nursing Education Award - 0 views

Viral Hepatitis Networking, Capacity Building, and Training - 0 views

    This FOA aims to increase testing of populations most affected by chronic hepatitis B and/or hepatitis C; and training of health care providers. Part A is Networking & Capacity Building and Part B is Professional Education & Training. Part A strategies & activities should focus on leading and growing an existing national coalition that is geographically diverse, is in at least different 10 states; and whose members are actively involved in viral hepatitis. The aim is to share strategies, materials, and lessons learned among coalition members; provide technical assistance to conduct culturally competent educational outreach; build the capacity to test the target populations for chronic viral hepatitis; and engage members in implementing CDC’s national viral hepatitis educational campaign(s).Outcomes for Part A are: increased number and capacity of coalition members to deliver culturally competent educational outreach to target population; increased numbers of individuals tested for chronic viral hepatitis; and increased exposure to CDC’s national education campaign. Part B activities are: developing free, accurate, up-to-date, CE-accredited comprehensive web-based, on-demand hepatitis materials, resources and trainings for health care professionals. The outcomes for part B are increasing the knowledge and skills of health care professionals, including the ability to screen, diagnose, medically manage, and provide care to people with chronic viral hepatitis.

MARTi was developed to provide a collection of immunization training, education, and resource materials for medical assistants and those responsible for their training, such as office managers or supervisors. The website provides reviewed and credible training and education programs and resources specifically developed for the education and reading level of medical assistants. Activities will include the following: --Manage and update the website content and resources as new vaccine recommendations and best practices become available and redesign the navigation of the website to feature resources offering continuing education (CE) credits --Create newsletters and social media announcements --Develop responsive design website to provide access through mobile devices --Assemble a committee of experts to advance use of the website and recommend improvements. Committee will convene via conference call (3 or 4 times a year). The committee will consist of key groups including the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and the Professional Association of Healthcare Organization Management (PACHOM) as well as post-secondary institutions training future medical assistants. CDC will not direct or manage any aspects of the committee.

    This announcement solicits applications for the Nursing Workforce Diversity (NWD) Program. NWD grants are awarded to increase nursing education opportunities for individuals who are from disadvantaged backgrounds (including racial and ethnic minorities under-represented among registered nurses) by providing (1) student scholarships or stipends for diploma or associate degree nurses to enter a bridge or degree completion program, and (2) student scholarships or stipends for accelerated nursing degree programs, pre-entry preparation, advanced education preparation, and retention activities. The goals of the NWD program and the purposes of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) are consistent with the statutory authority provided in Title VIII to support projects that assist underrepresented students throughout the educational pipeline to become registered nurses, facilitate diploma or associate degree registered nurses becoming baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses, and prepare practicing registered nurses for advanced nursing education. For FY 2014, the Division of Nursing will solicit three-year grants that support innovative efforts by schools of nursing to recruit, retain, and graduate disadvantaged students.  Disadvantaged populations for this award include: racial and ethnic minorities underrepresented among registered nurses and individuals who are educationally and economically disadvantaged.

Designed for young scholars working towards tenure, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship is a "genius grant" that will emphasize the balance between scholarly excellence and commitment to teaching practice that draws on new approaches to pedagogy, creating a new level of engagement for students in and beyond the classroom. In short, Fellows will be emerging heroes in their fields, on a clear trajectory to become great college educators. In its inaugural year, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship will identify five outstanding junior faculty members. Fellows will receive a one-year grant of $40,000-approximately $30,000 to support the engagement of a student assistant and the balance to be used for research and travel support. Exceptional candidates teach in ways that build student confidence and mastery of a subject; encourage critical thinking; explore foundational concepts through the lens of broader themes and global events; promote the power of learning communities beyond the classroom; leverage technology to complement the classroom experience; consider and serve different learning styles; prepare students for lifelong learning; and can serve as replicable teaching models for other educators. Selection takes place in June 2018. The five Fellows will be invited to attend the Course Hero Education Summit in July 2018, where their Fellowships will be announced.

    The TB Centers of Excellence for Training, Education, and Medical Consultation (TB COE) will serve as centers of excellence within their assigned regions with a focus on two major activities: (1) increasing Human Resource Development (HRD) for the prevention and control of TB through education and training activities, and; (2) increasing the capacity for appropriate medical evaluation and management of persons with TB disease and infection through medical consultation.     This announcement solicits applications for the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP) to increase the number of qualified nursing faculty.  The NFLP provides funding to schools of nursing to support the establishment and operation of a distinct, interest-bearing NFLP loan fund.  Participating schools of nursing make loans from the fund to assist registered nurses in completing their graduate education to become qualified nurse faculty.  The program offers loan cancellation of up to 85 percent for borrowers that graduate and serve as full-time nursing faculty for the prescribed period of time. Accredited schools of nursing are eligible to apply for funding.  Eligible schools must offer educator coursework within an advanced education nursing degree program(s) that will prepare the graduate student to teach.
