This NOFO will build on previous PEPFAR support under the HHS/CDC HIV treatment program in Côte d'Ivoire (CI) to ensure continuity of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services to an existing pool of clients receiving HIV/AIDS care, support, and/or treatment. The program will also continue expanding access to HIV/AIDS services while building the capacity of national structures and contributing to sustainable service delivery within the health sector in CI. Specifically, it serves to increase capacity and sustainability of the response toward controlling the HIV/AIDS epidemic by initially providing support for HIV service delivery aligning with PEPFAR geographic and programmatic pivots by local indigenous organizations and ultimately providing technical assistance to the national Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene (MSHP) to sustain and expand comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and antiretroviral therapy (ART) programs. The recipient(s) will combine a facility and community-based strategy to support HIV/AIDS services. At the end of the 5-year project period, the recipient(s) should be able to collect and evaluate program data that demonstrates improved quality of HIV prevention, care, and treatment services in CI and to transition activities to MSHP and/or local organizations to sustain a basic HIV service package.

Research Grants: Research grants are available to established scientists of all ages working at accredited institutions in the United States. Applications will be judged on the scientific merit and the innovative aspects of the proposal as well as on the competence of the applicant. Grants-in-Aid: The Grants-in-Aid program is designed for researchers at the assistant professor level who experience difficulty in competing for research funds because they have not yet become firmly established. Grants-in-Aid can also be made to senior scientists. All applications will be judged on the scientific merit and innovative aspects of the proposal, as well as on past performance and evidence of the applicant's continued productivity. Grants-in-Aid are awarded for a one-year period and do not exceed $30,000.

Mozambique is at a critical junction of controlling its HIV/AIDS epidemic in order to meet The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) goal of 90-90-90 by 2020 and 95-95-95 by 2030. Reaching these goals not only requires robust clinical interventions, but simultaneously requires addressing social, cultural, and legal barriers that inhibit equal access to health services for all people living with and affected by HIV. This requires not only the training of those at a local level who interact with people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) or other vulnerable populations but also building the capacity of civil society organizations that can assist with improving uptake of HIV services as well as improving retention and linkages. This NOFO will increase the availability, accessibility, acceptability, and quality of HIV services provided in health facilities or community level by implementing innovative activities that reduce stigma and discrimination, increase retention and linkages of HIV and TB services, improve health facilities’ redress mechanisms, optimize care for HIV and TB patients, and improve patient rights and access to quality services for PLHIV.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation's biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs and advance the priorities outlined in the Office of AIDS Research (OAR) Annual Strategic Plan and the research program priorities of the NIMH Division of AIDS Research (DAR). To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Research Experiences and Mentoring Activities that either capitalize on existing networks of collaborating investigators or develop institute-based research education programs. Both research experiences and mentoring activities are required; research experiences are expected to be primary. Research Education Programs are expected to enhance the professional development of the participants and foster a career trajectory towards independent research in the mental health of HIV/AIDS.

This NOFO builds upon the achievements so far made in strengthening the health systems ability to achieve HIV epidemic control in Ethiopia and supports the implementation of comprehensive HIV/AIDS programs in the four emerging regions focusing on priority scale-up and sustained sub-national units (SNUs). The recipient will also provide technical assistance (TA) to the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and seven Regional Health Bureaus (RHBs) having direct awards with CDC - including two city administrations - and other government organizations as appropriate, with the ultimate goal of strengthening local ownership and attaining the UNAIDS 90-90-90 goals for epidemic control of HIV/AIDS. The recipient will ensure that adequate capacity is built at the RHB and lower SNU levels for a gradual transition of activities considered to be matured, including site-level activities implemented in the four emerging regions. The nature of TA during the 5 year project period may change depending on program dynamics and readiness of organizations in the emerging regions as well as TA recipients. The recipient will also be engaged in planning and rolling-out support of new US and host government initiatives and interventions developed to improve performance and achieve targets set to achieve epidemic control in top priority SNUs.

Sigma Xi, a society of research scientists and engineers that rewards excellence in research and cooperation among scientists in all fields, has been providing undergraduate and graduate students with valuable educational experiences and financial support for more than eighty years. By encouraging close working relationships between students and faculty, the society promotes scientific achievement through hands-on learning. Through the Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research program, the society awards grants of up to $1,000 to students from all areas of the sciences and engineering. Designated funds from the National Academy of Sciences allow for grants of up to $5,000 for astronomy research and $2,500 for vision-related research. Funding can support travel expenses or nonstandard laboratory equipment necessary to complete a specific research project. While membership in Sigma Xi is not a requirement for applying for funding, approximately 75 percent of Grants-in-Aid of Research funds are restricted for use by dues-paying student members or students whose project advisor is a dues-paying member. This NOFO seeks to provide infrastructure support and technical assistance to Mozambican Ministry of Health (MOH) health clinics and facilities in order to scale-up HIV and TB services through PEPFAR. This NOFO will provide technical assistance to help address MOH infrastructure needs as well as providing overall alternative solutions to improving the health infrastructure either through renovations, pre-fabricated (pre-fab) structures, or equipment necessary for the improvement of HIV/AIDS and TB services across the clinical cascade. Sites for infrastructure support will be selected based on MOH and PEPFAR priorities. Health centers may require different infrastructure solutions which may include pre-fab structures for warehouses, pharmacies, laboratories, and medium-sized health units. Supported health facilities may be geographically dispersed throughout Mozambique and involve rural and urban areas. The accomplishment of these objectives will support the Government of Mozambique’s goal of promoting epidemic control through an increased facility maximum HIV patient capacity and will in turn facilitate the country’s HIV strategic goals.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit grant applications that propose to establish Consortia for HIV/AIDS Vaccine Development (CHAVD) to support a coordinated, multidisciplinary team(s) of researchers focused on iterative approaches to accelerate HIV vaccine development by addressing key immunogen design roadblocks to the discovery and development of a safe and effective antibody-mediated preventive HIV vaccine.

National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) has implemented a series of activities to track trends in the HIV epidemic and measure the impact of the national program. A strategic objective of PEPFAR India in COP 2017 is to ensure availability of high-quality data for planning and decision-making, and to harmonize NACO’s efforts for a coordinated HIV response. This NOFO will support monitoring the epidemic trends and continuous quality improvement (CQI) to improve data quality and its efficient use through targeted technical assistance (TA) and limited introduction of new techniques and approaches. The recipient will strengthen the individual and organizational capacities, data quality and reporting systems to inform program and health systems’ planning, and provide evidence for implementation of health policies and best practices. The recipient will collaborate with NACO to develop/strengthen and implement the national HIV strategic information (SI) plan. The recipient will provide TA to health departments and selected public service delivery sites (Targeted Interventions, which are combination prevention sites for key population, Integrated Counseling and Testing Centers and antiretroviral treatment (ART) centers) to strengthen capacities for data management and use for decision-making. Interventions will be implemented in PEPFAR-prioritized districts in two high prevalence states in India.

With PEPFAR support, CDC Haiti works in close collaboration with Haiti’s Ministry of Health (MSPP) to increase access to quality HIV clinical services, prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV, and increase laboratory and strategic information capacity. In 2016, CDC Haiti adopted and implemented WHO’s Test and Start strategy, making treatment available to anyone who is HIV positive and reaching 80,000 people – over half of all people living with HIV in Haiti. The CDC program also led the development and implementation of key innovative approaches such as the biometric coding for unique patient identification and patient linkage and retention program. These interventions significantly improved the PEPFAR Haiti program performance. This NOFO aims to build upon these interventions and improve:Service delivery by providing technical assistance in the MSPP network to help strengthen HIV/AIDS-related services through clinical mentoring;Health workforce development by supporting both pre-service and in-service training efforts and working with MSPP in maintaining its national clinical guidelines; andHealth information systems by enhancing the iSanté Plus system, which includes patient care summaries, population-level data dashboards, automated program reports, epidemiological monitoring, and indicator reporting, and is linked to computerized lab results.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits applications from qualified academic institutions in Puerto Rico whose non-human primate research facilities were damaged by Hurricane Maria. Institutions may request funds to recover, restore, and modernize the physical infrastructure of non-human primate facilities. The rebuilt structures shall comply with the relevant engineering standards applicable to the requirements of the environment, the geographical location, animal welfare and care, and research-related demands. Any request must be justified by the needs of the HIV/AIDS-related NIH-funded research projects that use non-human primates raised, maintained, and housed in these facilities.

The goal of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to translate and adapt the most successful global, evidence-based HIV-related service provision strategies to marginalized populations in the United States (U.S.) with a substantial risk of HIV-infection and AIDS. The ultimate goal, is to produce improvements in HIV-related health outcomes in these key populations through strategies that successfully and durably reach them with timely HIV testing, prevention and treatment technologies that lead to the achievement of the UNAIDS 90-90-90 benchmarks: by 2020, 90 percent of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status, 90 percent of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy and 90 percent of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy will have viral suppression.

The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) DEBUT Challenge is open to teams of undergraduate students working on projects that develop innovative solutions to unmet health and clinical problems. Entries are solicited in one of the following categories: *   Diagnostic Devices/Methods *   Therapeutic Devices/Methods *   Technology to Aid Underserved Populations and Individuals with Disabilities NIBIB's mission is to improve health by leading the development and accelerating the application of biomedical technologies.  The goals of the challenge are 1) to provide undergraduate students valuable experiences such as working in teams, identifying unmet clinical needs, and designing, building and debugging solutions for such open-ended problems; 2) to generate novel, innovative tools to improve healthcare, consistent with NIBIB's purpose to support research, training, the dissemination of health information, and other programs with respect to biomedical imaging and engineering and associated technologies and modalities with biomedical applications; and 3) to highlight and acknowledge the contributions and accomplishments of undergraduate students.

Research in the area of "Emerging Worlds" aims to answer the fundamental science question of how the Solar System formed and evolved. It helps to advance the strategic science goal to "explore and observe the objects in the Solar System to understand how they formed and evolve" through basic research that supports planetary exploration, aids in the development of missions, and provides context for the interpretation of all Solar System observations that are relevant to its formation and evolution. Major interdisciplinary efforts to solve key questions are particularly valued.

The goal of this funding opportunity announcement is to (i) foster joint activities between US and Indian scientists on affordable diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, and (ii) address medical needs in low-resource settings, taking advantage of opportunities and technological advances, to aid the development of appropriate affordable medical devices. To address needs and opportunities, Indian and U.S. scientists will undertake a coordinated program that will involve collaborative, peer-reviewed research and technology development projects.
