    This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications to establish research teams of the Small-Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) Consortium to conduct research whose overall goals are: 1) to improve SCLC therapeutics, focusing on understanding how the molecular vulnerabilities of this cancer could be used to develop targeted agent combinations; and/or, 2) to gain a better understanding of the rapid development of clinical resistance to drug and radiation therapy. This FOA focuses on two of the five research priorities identified in the National Cancer Institute's 2014 Scientific Framework for Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC). Additional priorities of the Framework are stated in this FOA, as studies are expected to use or develop state-of-the-art research tools and omic profiles to identify therapeutic strategies that are relevant to human SCLC disease progression and resistance. The research supported by this FOA will be performed by individual research teams who are expected to collaborate with one another and with a central SCLC Coordinating Center. A third component of the SCLC Consortium focuses on prevention and early detection of SCLC.

    The FY19 KCRP Translational Research Partnership Award supports partnerships between clinicians and research scientists that will accelerate the movement of promising ideas in kidney cancer toward clinical applications. This award supports the development of translational research collaborations between two independent, faculty-level (or equivalent) investigators to address a central problem or question in kidney cancer in a manner that would be less readily achievable through separate efforts. One partner in the collaboration must be a research scientist and the other must be a clinician. It should be clear that both have had equal intellectual input in the design of the research project. Multi-institutional partnerships are encouraged. At least one member of the partnership must have experience either in kidney cancer research or kidney cancer patient care. Inclusion of experts from outside the kidney cancer field is encouraged.     The Conquer Cancer Foundation was founded by cancer doctors at the American Society of Clinical Oncology to support dramatic advances in the prevention, treatment, and cures of all types of cancer. To that end, CCF is accepting applications for its Global Oncology Young Investigator Award. Through the program, a single grant of up to $50,000 will be awarded to an early-career investigator in support of global oncology research. "Global oncology" as defined by the foundation implies an approach to the practice of oncology that acknowledges the reality of limited resources in most parts of the world. Projects therefore need to be a research exercise - identifying training models, researching their outcomes, analyzing the outcomes of those models to select the most effective curriculum, and/or researching the cost of creating sustainable models where they do not exist.
