The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network-AACR Innovative Grants represent a joint effort to promote and support innovative pancreatic cancer research. They aim to spur creative and cutting-edge ideas and approaches in pancreatic cancer research, including those successful in other areas of cancer that have justifiable promise for pancreatic cancer. The research proposed for funding may be basic, translational, clinical or epidemiological in nature and must have direct applicability and relevance to pancreatic cancer. These grants are available to full time, independent junior and senior investigators, including those with experience in other areas of cancer or biomedical/health science research who have promising ideas and approaches that can be applied to pancreatic cancer research. The grants provide $200,000 over two years ($100,000 per year) for direct and indirect expenses related to the research project, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient and any collaborators (grant recipient/collaborator salaries limited to 20 percent of the total grant), postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students and/or research assistants, research/laboratory supplies, equipment and publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project. It is anticipated that multiple Innovative Grants will be funded.

The PFD Research Foundation together with the June Allyson Foundation has awarded over $1.5 million in grants to AUGS members since 1998. The Foundation serves the medical profession by supporting promising, innovative research regarding the causes, prevention, cure and treatment of pelvic floor disorders. Foundation research funds are made available to qualified AUGS members to pursue their research question. Goals of this research grant program are to support the completion of research projects which will lead to publication and presentation at future AUGS Annual Scientific Meetings and to support the development of researchers in the field who will go on to obtain additional funding for future research on pelvic floor disorders. Applicants can submit proposals for the following research awards: PFD Research Foundation Fellow Research Award: A two-year grant awarded to a fellow for clinical/patient-oriented, educational, or lab-based/basic science research. PFD Research Foundation Faculty Research Award: A two-year grant awarded to a junior faculty or affiliate member for clinical/patient-oriented, educational, or lab-based/basic science research. June Allyson Memorial Fund Research Award: A two-year grant awarded to a fellow for lab-based/basic science research. PFD Research Foundation and ICA IC/PBS Research Grant: A one-year grant awarded to a fellow, junior faculty or affiliate member of AUGS and ICA for research related to interstitial cystitis.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that has evolved from a young cancer patient's front-yard lemonade stand to a national foundation for childhood cancer, awards grants designed to fill critical voids in current pediatric cancer research. Through its Innovation Grants program, the foundation awards two-year grants of up to $250,000 to researchers with a novel approach to pediatric oncology scientific investigation. That can include a change in research direction and/or an innovative new idea that moves away from an investigator's prior research but has potential impact for childhood cancers. Innovation Grants will support research proposals to be carried out by investigators who are already established, have a track record of peer-reviewed publications, and can demonstrate evidence of having successfully competed for extramural funding.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that has evolved from a young cancer patient's front-yard lemonade stand to a national foundation for childhood cancer, awards grants designed to fill critical voids in current pediatric cancer research. Through its Innovation Grants program, the foundation awards two-year grants of up to $250,000 to researchers with a novel approach to pediatric oncology scientific investigation. To that end, the foundation is inviting applications for innovative research with the potential to increase the basic understanding of these uncommon tumors and lead to the development of more effective therapies. Grants ranging between $100,000 to $1.2 million will be awarded in support of projects over one to four years in the areas of basic, translational, or clinical neuroendocrine cancer research. Four different grants will be awarded: Accelerator Award - Grants of up to $1.2 million over four years will be awarded to projects that bring together investigators from diverse scientific disciplines. Investigator Awards - Grants of up to $300,000 over two years will be awarded to investigators and teams with the tools to study neuroendocrine cancers in innovative and transformative ways. Pilot Awards - Grants of up to $100,000 over one year will be awarded for pilot studies. Mentored Awards - Grants of up to $120,000 over two years will be awarded to encourage early-career investigators to pursue neuroendocrine tumor research and make a commitment to the field.

Applicants for the funds may be students or faculty. The project, program, or entrepreneurial idea must be created by, led by or benefit women. Grants are awarded in values of $2500 to $20,000. While we prefer the base grant to be $5,000, we are considering a limited number of $2500 which will be required to show high impact. These applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The grants must be submitted online via the link below and must include a 2-minute video. Applicants will be narrowed to a pool of 10-15 finalists by our M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Grants Committee. This committee will review applications; contact applicants if additional information is required, and present the finalists to the M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Steering Committee and Development Staff. Grant deadline for this year is Feb. 9, 2018. These finalists will perform in a fast-pitch style Hawk Tank event on April 11, 2018. Finalists will be offered fast-pitch training courtesy of the Farmers School of Business - school of Entrepreneurship, and will receive coaching and support. They will then pitch their idea in 5 minutes or less on April 11, 2018 at the event. Giving Circle members are the voters who will determine winners. Absentee voters will be given the option to vote online. Winners will be announced that night or the next day at the Symposium, to be determined.

The AACR-The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research "Science of the Patient" (SOP) Grants Program represents a joint effort to stimulate novel research aimed at understanding the influence of the biology of the host (i.e., patient) on the genesis, development, treatment, and survivorship of cancer. Successful projects should emphasize the interplay of host physiological systems with the tumor and/or tumor microenvironment. Harnessing the powerful approach of examining cancer not as an isolated phenomenon but as a systemic disease that affects and is affected by both the normal and pathological functions of the patient's body, these grants are expected to yield important advancements in our understanding of cancer development, progression, and treatment. Individuals with innovative ideas that have the potential to affect future clinical practice are particularly encouraged to apply.  Each grant will provide $750,000 over three years for expenses related to the research project, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient and any collaborators, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students (including tuition costs), and research assistants; research/laboratory supplies; equipment; travel applicable to the research project; publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project; other research expenses; and indirect costs.

The Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation (CBTF) is soliciting grant applications for the calendar year 2013. There will be two categories of awards: Pediatric Brain Tumor Grant Awards Our standard grant request for pediatric brain tumor awards will continue as usual. We anticipate funding up to three (3) research proposals that are a maximum of two years in duration. Funding requests cannot exceed $30,000/year or a maximum of $60,000 over the course of the award. Pilocytic Astrocytoma Award We have specific funds for one, 1-year research proposal related to pilocytic astrocytoma. The funding request for this award can be up to a maximum of $50,000.

The AACR Gertrude B. Elion Cancer Research Award is open to tenure-track scientists at the level of assistant professor who are in the first five years of a faculty appointment (at the start of the grant term). Proposed research projects may focus on research in cancer etiology, diagnosis, treatment or prevention (basic, translational or clinical cancer research). The award provides a one-year grant of $75,000 for direct research expenses; which may include the salary and benefits of the grant recipient, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows and/or research assistants, equipment, research/laboratory supplies, and limited travel for the grant recipient.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is committed to creating opportunities for new and innovative research into treatments and cures for childhood cancers. Innovation grants are designed as seed funding for researchers with a novel approach to pediatric oncology scientific investigation. This may represent a change in research direction and/or an innovative new idea that moves away from an investigator's prior research but has potential impact for childhood cancers. Innovation Grants will support research proposals to be carried out by investigators who are already established, have a track record of peer-reviewed publications and evidence of successfully competing for extramural funding. The grant is for two years up to $125,000 per year. A one year no cost extension is encouraged.

The American Association for Cancer Research is accepting applications for its AACR NextGen Grants for Transformative Cancer Research program. The annual program is designed to stimulate highly innovative research from young investigators. Three-year grants of up to $450,000 will be awarded in support of creative, paradigm-shifting cancer research that might not be funded through conventional channels. The funds are intended to support expenses related to the research project, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students (including tuition costs), and research assistants; research/laboratory supplies and equipment; travel applicable to the research project; publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project; and other research expenses and indirect costs. Research projects must represent a highly innovative approach to a major contemporary challenge in cancer research. The research, which can be in any area of basic, translational or clinical science, must have the potential to lead to groundbreaking discoveries in the field and transform our understanding of the tumorigenesis process and/or ability to treat, detect, or prevent cancer. To be eligible, applicants must have a doctoral degree in a related field and not currently be a candidate for a further doctoral degree. In addition, at the start of the grant term on July 1, 2018, applicants must hold a tenure-eligible appointment at the level of assistant professor; have held this appointment for no more than three years; and work at an academic, medical, or research institution anywhere in the world. AACR membership is required.

Grants are made by the Board of Trustees of Ohio Cancer Research taking into account studies and recommendations of the Scientific Review Committee. Grants are available to investigators in either nonprofit or for-profit institutions, offices or clinics within the State of Ohio. However, grants to investigators working for profit-making organizations may not include funds for capital equipment. Grants are made with the stipulation of their use by a particular individual or group who are known as the principal investigator in support of a specific program of research under his/her/their direction. Full professors or their equivalent are not eligible. Only tenure track, junior faculty or equivalent scientific staffs are generally considered as appropriate. Postdoctoral fellows, Research, research assistants, and graduate students are ineligible to apply as P.I.'s, but they may be included as support staff. The P.I. must show evidence of independence. Applicants must be within six years of their first independent research or faculty appointment. Well established investigators should not submit projects related to their current area of research. Investigators previously funded by Ohio Cancer Research must provide justification that this application is significantly different from the previously funded project. Information regarding the results of the previously funded proposal and the P.I.'s success in obtaining further national funding must also be provided. Grants awarded by Ohio Cancer Research are made to support research activities broadly related to cancer and leukemia. Certain types of projects are not recommended for support. Among these are purely clinical work of a non-research nature and requests for the sole purpose of equipping a laboratory.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is accepting Letters of Intent from researchers for projects to identify and develop safer, more effective treatments for patients with blood cancers. Through the Quest for Cures initiative, LLS, in partnership with biopharmaceutical company Celgene, will award two-year grants of between $200,000 and $400,000 a year for research projects that have a measurable impact over the next five to ten years on the diagnosis or treatment of patients with hematologic malignancies. Additional funding may be available for projects that have demonstrated exceptional progress in the initial two years. Specifically, the initiative will award grants in the following priority areas: Tumor cell clonal heterogeneity: This grant will support researchers seeking novel approaches for measuring and monitoring clonal heterogeneity and assessing its contribution to the response or resistance to therapy. New molecular stratification mechanisms: Recipients of this grant will work to identify key subsets of patients with B-cell malignancies to help predict which patients will have poor outcomes from current standard therapies so they may be directed to alternative therapies. Bone marrow and lymph node microenvironments: Researchers will seek to enhance the understanding of the role that the bone marrow and lymph node microenvironments play in either responding to or resisting therapy.

In 2017, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will invest $12.8 million in innovative research related to pancreatic cancer, a 33 percent increase over 2016. This investment includes both the network's competitive, peer-reviewed Research Grants Program and its internal research initiatives. To that end, the network has issued an RFA for its Early Detection Targeted Grant program, through which grants of up to $1 million over four years will be awarded to support ancillary research studies that identify promising blood biomarkers or imaging approaches with the potential to facilitate the use of specimens and/or participants in a cohort of new-onset diabetics and to validate components of a protocol for the early detection of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.

The goal of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network-AACR Research Acceleration Network (RAN) Grants is to provide funding and strategic assistance to research projects with the potential to double survival for pancreatic cancer by the year 2020. These projects must be implemented by a multi-institutional team and include a clinical component with an endpoint relevant to improving the detection or treatment of pancreatic cancer. The RAN Grants will provide $1,000,000 in funding for direct and indirect expenses related to the research project over a one- to three-year time frame. In addition to the grant, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will provide strategic project management support to help optimize project implementation and progress during the grant term.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications for P50 Research Center Grants for Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs). The program will fund P50 SPORE grants to support state-of-the-art investigator-initiated translational research that will contribute to improved prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of an organ-specific cancer (or a related group of cancers). SPOREs are expected not only to conduct a wide spectrum of research activities, but also to contribute significantly to the development of specialized shared resources Core facilities (Cores), improved research model systems, and collaborative research projects with other institutions. The research supported through this program must be translational in nature and must always be focused upon knowledge of human biology stemming from research using cellular, molecular, structural, biochemical, and/or genetic experimental approaches with the goal of a translational human endpoint within the project period of the grant. In addition, SPOREs must include both a Developmental Research Program for pilot studies and a Career Development Program to foster careers in organ-based translational science.

The Landon Foundation-AACR INNOVATOR Award for Research in Tumor Microenvironment was established to recognize the outstanding achievement of a junior faculty-level scientist working in the tumor microenvironment field, and support his or her research that, if successful, will have potential to advance knowledge on the tumor microenvironment. The goal of the grant program is to encourage junior faculty who are in the first five years of a faculty appointment (at the start of the grant term) to pursue novel tumor microenvironment research. Travel support is included to help foster interactions and collaborations among cancer scientists studying various aspects of cancer biology and to disseminate scientific knowledge about tumor microenvironment research within the field. Proposed projects may be basic, translational, clinical, or epidemiological in nature and must focus on the study of various aspects of the tumor microenvironment; including, but not limited to, the role of stroma and extracellular matrix in tumor development, angiogenesis, immunity and inflammation in the tumor microenvironment, as well as approaches to therapeutically target the tumor environment. The grant provides $100,000 over two years ($50,000 per year) for expenses related to the research project, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students, and/or research assistants, research/laboratory supplies, equipment, publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project, other research expenses, and for attendance at an AACR annual meeting, any AACR tumor microenvironment-related conference, or other AACR meeting for the purpose of participating in scholarly exchange about the funded research.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is accepting applications for its 2018 Catalyst Grant program. The program, which aims to encourage and support junior faculty in the pursuit of pancreatic cancer research and establish a career path in the field, provides grants of up to $500,000 over three years to junior investigators who have yet to secure their first significant research funding. Research projects may be basic, translational, clinical, or epidemiological in nature but must have direct applicability and relevance to pancreatic cancer. Grant recipients not only receive financial support for their funded research but also are invited to join the network's Community for Progress, a mentorship program that works to advance the goal of increasing survival rates and improving outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients. To be eligible, applicants must have a doctoral degree (PD, MD, DO, DC, ND, DDS, DVM, ScD, DNS, PharmD, or equivalent) in the biomedical sciences (or in a field applicable to health science research) and not currently be a candidate for a further doctoral degree. In addition, at the start of the grant term on July 1, 2018, applicants must hold a faculty position with the title of assistant professor, instructor, research assistant professor, or the equivalent.
