The PFD Research Foundation together with the June Allyson Foundation has awarded over $1.5 million in grants to AUGS members since 1998. The Foundation serves the medical profession by supporting promising, innovative research regarding the causes, prevention, cure and treatment of pelvic floor disorders. Foundation research funds are made available to qualified AUGS members to pursue their research question. Goals of this research grant program are to support the completion of research projects which will lead to publication and presentation at future AUGS Annual Scientific Meetings and to support the development of researchers in the field who will go on to obtain additional funding for future research on pelvic floor disorders. Applicants can submit proposals for the following research awards: PFD Research Foundation Fellow Research Award: A two-year grant awarded to a fellow for clinical/patient-oriented, educational, or lab-based/basic science research. PFD Research Foundation Faculty Research Award: A two-year grant awarded to a junior faculty or affiliate member for clinical/patient-oriented, educational, or lab-based/basic science research. June Allyson Memorial Fund Research Award: A two-year grant awarded to a fellow for lab-based/basic science research. PFD Research Foundation and ICA IC/PBS Research Grant: A one-year grant awarded to a fellow, junior faculty or affiliate member of AUGS and ICA for research related to interstitial cystitis.

The Career Development Award supports early-career, independent investigators to conduct impactful research under the mentorship of an experienced lung cancer researcher as an opportunity to obtain the funding, mentoring, and experience necessary for productive, independent careers at the forefront of lung cancer research. This award is intended to support impactful research projects with an emphasis on discovery. Submissions from and partnerships with investigators at military treatment facilities, military labs, and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers and research laboratories are strongly encouraged. Key elements of this award are as follows: * Principal Investigator (PI): PIs must be research- or physician-scientists at an early stage of their independent research careers. PIs must be within 5 years of their first faculty appointment (or equivalent), and exhibit a strong desire to pursue a career in lung cancer research. * Mentorship: The mentor must be an experienced lung cancer researcher as demonstrated by a strong record of funding and publications in lung cancer research. In addition, the mentor must demonstrate a commitment to developing the PI's career in lung cancer research. * Career Development: A Career Development Plan is required and should be prepared with appropriate guidance from the mentor. A clearly articulated strategy for acquiring the necessary skills, competence, and expertise to have a career at the forefront of lung cancer research should be included. The plan should outline how the PI will gain experience and training in lung cancer research. Because career development is the focus of this award, the PI's institution must demonstrate a commitment to the PI through a minimum of 40% protected time for the proposed research, though more protected time is highly desirable. * Impact: Research that has high potential impact may lead to major advancements and significantly accelerate progress toward eradicating death

The American Association for Cancer Research is accepting applications for its AACR NextGen Grants for Transformative Cancer Research program. The annual program is designed to stimulate highly innovative research from young investigators. Three-year grants of up to $450,000 will be awarded in support of creative, paradigm-shifting cancer research that might not be funded through conventional channels. The funds are intended to support expenses related to the research project, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students (including tuition costs), and research assistants; research/laboratory supplies and equipment; travel applicable to the research project; publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project; and other research expenses and indirect costs. Research projects must represent a highly innovative approach to a major contemporary challenge in cancer research. The research, which can be in any area of basic, translational or clinical science, must have the potential to lead to groundbreaking discoveries in the field and transform our understanding of the tumorigenesis process and/or ability to treat, detect, or prevent cancer. To be eligible, applicants must have a doctoral degree in a related field and not currently be a candidate for a further doctoral degree. In addition, at the start of the grant term on July 1, 2018, applicants must hold a tenure-eligible appointment at the level of assistant professor; have held this appointment for no more than three years; and work at an academic, medical, or research institution anywhere in the world. AACR membership is required.

The intent of the Breakthrough Award is to support promising research that has high potential to lead to or make breakthroughs in breast cancer. The critical components of this award mechanism are: Impact: Research supported by the Breakthrough Award will have the potential for a major impact and accelerate progress toward ending breast cancer. The impact may be near-term or long-term, but must be significant and move beyond an incremental advancement. Applications must articulate the pathway to making a clinical impact for individuals with, or at risk for, breast cancer, even if clinical impact is not an immediate outcome. Research Scope: Research proposed under this award mechanism may be small- to large-scale projects, at different stages of idea and research development. Two different funding levels, based on the scope of the research, are available under this Program Announcement/Funding Opportunity. An additional funding level, Funding Level 3, is available under a different Program Announcement (W81XWH-15-BCRP-BREAKTHROUGH2_FL3). It is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator (PI) to select the funding level that is most appropriate for the research proposed. The funding level should be selected based on the scope of the research project, rather than the amount of the budget. This opportunity allows for young investigators to develop a research project, investigate a problem or question in prostate cancer research, and further their intellectual development as a prostate cancer researcher of the future. The postdoctoral investigator is considered the Principal Investigator (PI) of the application and must exhibit strong potential for, and commitment to, pursuing a career as an investigator at the forefront of prostate cancer research; however, the PI is not required to have previous prostate cancer research experience. Applications must include at least one Mentor, appropriate to the proposed research project, who has experience in prostate cancer research and mentoring as demonstrated by a record of active funding, recent publications, and successful mentorship. The primary Mentor can be a junior faculty member, in which case the PI is encouraged to include a secondary Mentor with a more robust track record in prostate cancer research and mentorship. The selected Mentor(s) should also demonstrate a clear commitment to the development of the PI toward independence as a prostate cancer researcher. The PI must outline an individualized, prostate cancer-focused researcher development plan. The researcher development plan should include a clearly articulated strategy for acquiring the necessary skills, competence, and expertise that will enable the PI to successfully complete the proposed research project and foster the PI's development as an independent prostate cancer researcher. An environment appropriate to the proposed mentoring and research project must be clearly described, although any deficiencies of resources and/or mentorship at the PI's institution can be mitigated through collaboration(s) with other institutions.

The BCRP Distinguished Investigator Award enables established visionary leaders from any field to pursue innovative ideas that could accelerate progress toward ending breast cancer. These individuals should be exceptionally talented researchers who have shown that they are leaders in their field(s) through extraordinary creativity, vision, and productivity. The Principal Investigator (PI) is expected to have a renowned reputation as a researcher who has made groundbreaking contributions to advancing his/her field. He/she should have demonstrated success at forming and leading effective partnerships and collaborations. Through his/her distinguished record of research and leadership, the PI should demonstrate the potential to make unique and significant advances in breast cancer. The central feature of the Distinguished Investigator Award is that the PI must propose research that is a fundamental shift from his/her track record of research and addresses one or more BCRP overarching challenge(s). Proposals that are a continuation or incremental change from the PI's published line of research do not meet the intent of this award. High-risk/high-reward proposals with limited preliminary data are welcomed, but not required. All applications must include a well-formulated, testable hypothesis based on strong scientific rationale. Experience in breast cancer research is not required; however, the application must focus on breast cancer. Individuals from other disciplines who will apply novel concepts to breast cancer are encouraged to submit. The PI is expected to assemble a research team that will provide the necessary expertise and collaborative efforts toward accomplishing the research goals. If the PI does not have experience in breast cancer, inclusion of at least one collaborator with breast cancer expertise on the research team is required. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support the planning and development of translational research programs focused upon cancer health disparities research. The P20 grants supported by this FOA are expected to expand into comprehensive translational research programs focused upon cancer health disparities and ultimately compete for P50 awards under the umbrella of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) "Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs)". Each P20 Program proposed must include the following components: Research Program (at least two translational research projects are required); Administrative Core; Shared Resource Facility (Biospecimen/Pathology Core is required); and Developmental Research Program. The research supported through the P20 Program must be translational in nature and must focus upon knowledge of human biology with a translational human endpoint proposed. The proposed research theme for the P20 Program must be focused on addressing disparities in cancer incidence, prevalence, mortality, survivorship, and/or burden of cancer, or related health conditions, that are well documented among racial/ethnic minority populations. Projects may focus on a wide range of research areas including prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, epidemiology and/or cancer control, and are expected to have clear translational potential to advance research findings to applications relevant for clinical practice and/or healthcare settings.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites grant applications for the Research Specialist Award (R50) in any area of NCI-funded cancer research. This FOA is specifically for laboratory-based scientists. The Research Specialist Award is designed to encourage the development of stable research career opportunities for exceptional scientists who want to continue to pursue research within the context of an existing NCI-funded basic, translational, clinical, or population science cancer research program, but not serve as independent investigators. These non-tenure track scientists, such as researchers within a research program, are vital to sustaining the biomedical research enterprise. It is anticipated that only exceptional scientists who want to pursue research within the context of an existing NCI-funded cancer research program, but not serve as independent investigators, will be competitive for this award.

The OCRP Investigator-Initiated Research Award is intended to support high-impact research that has the potential to make an important contribution to ovarian cancer or patient/survivor care. Research projects may focus on any phase of research, from basic laboratory research through translational research, excluding clinical trials. The application must demonstrate logical reasoning and a sound scientific rationale established through a critical review and analysis of the literature for the application to be competitive. Applications must include preliminary data that are relevant to ovarian cancer and support the proposed research project. The proposed research must be relevant to active duty Service members, Veterans, military beneficiaries, and/or the American public. The anticipated direct costs budgeted for the entire period of performance for an FY18 OCRP Investigator-Initiated Research Award will not exceed $450,000. Refer to Section II.D.5, Funding Restrictions, for detailed funding information. All projects should adhere to a core set of standards for rigorous study design and reporting to maximize the reproducibility and translational potential of preclinical research. This grant is available to independent junior and senior investigators to develop and study new ideas and innovative approaches that have direct application and relevance to neuroendocrine tumors. Proposed research may be in any discipline of basic, translational, clinical, or epidemiological cancer research. Applications are invited from researchers currently in the field as well as investigators with experience in other areas of cancer or biomedical research who have promising ideas and approaches that can be applied to neuroendocrine tumor research.

This grant is available to independent junior and senior investigators to develop and study new ideas and innovative approaches that have direct application and relevance to neuroendocrine tumors. Applications are invited from researchers currently in the field as well as investigators with experience in other areas of cancer or biomedical research who have promising ideas and approaches that can be applied to neuroendocrine tumor research.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications for P30 Cancer Center Support Grants (CCSGs) to support NCI-designated Cancer Centers. CCSGs support three types of Cancer Centers: 1) Comprehensive Cancer Centers, which demonstrate reasonable depth and breadth of research activities in each of three major areas: basic laboratory; clinical; and prevention, control and population-based research, and which have substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas; and 2) Clinical Cancer Centers, which are primarily focused on basic laboratory; clinical; and prevention, cancer control, and population-based research; or some combination of these areas, and 3) Basic Cancer Centers, which focus on basic laboratory research. The purpose of all types of NCI-designated Cancer Centers is to capitalize on all institutional cancer research capabilities, integrating meritorious research into a single transdisciplinary research enterprise across all institutional boundaries. Cancer Centers supported through this FOA are expected to serve as major sources of discovery of the nature of cancer and of development of more effective approaches to prevention, diagnosis, and therapy; to contribute significantly to the development of Shared Resources that support research; to collaborate and coordinate their research efforts with other NCI-funded programs and investigators; and to disseminate research findings for the benefit of the community.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network-AACR Innovative Grants represent a joint effort to promote and support innovative pancreatic cancer research. They aim to spur creative and cutting-edge ideas and approaches in pancreatic cancer research, including those successful in other areas of cancer that have justifiable promise for pancreatic cancer. The research proposed for funding may be basic, translational, clinical or epidemiological in nature and must have direct applicability and relevance to pancreatic cancer. These grants are available to full time, independent junior and senior investigators, including those with experience in other areas of cancer or biomedical/health science research who have promising ideas and approaches that can be applied to pancreatic cancer research. The grants provide $200,000 over two years ($100,000 per year) for direct and indirect expenses related to the research project, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient and any collaborators (grant recipient/collaborator salaries limited to 20 percent of the total grant), postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students and/or research assistants, research/laboratory supplies, equipment and publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project. It is anticipated that multiple Innovative Grants will be funded.

The Lung Cancer Research Foundation supports research on innovative strategies for better treatments, screening, and prevention of all cancers of the lung. The foundation's goal is to fund promising scientific and clinical research initiatives that lead to more positive outcomes and improved quality of life for all lung cancer patients.   To that end, LCRF has issued a Request for Proposals designed to provide critical seed support for cutting-edge scientific research on all lung cancers. Through its Research Grant program, the foundation will support projects with a focus on basic science, translational research, clinical research, supportive care, and quality of care/outcomes.   Grants of up to $75,000 will be awarded.   The program is open to all U.S. and international investigators, including graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, physicians, medical students, and nurse researchers.

The Landon Foundation-AACR INNOVATOR Award for Research in Tumor Microenvironment was established to recognize the outstanding achievement of a junior faculty-level scientist working in the tumor microenvironment field, and support his or her research that, if successful, will have potential to advance knowledge on the tumor microenvironment. The goal of the grant program is to encourage junior faculty who are in the first five years of a faculty appointment (at the start of the grant term) to pursue novel tumor microenvironment research. Travel support is included to help foster interactions and collaborations among cancer scientists studying various aspects of cancer biology and to disseminate scientific knowledge about tumor microenvironment research within the field. Proposed projects may be basic, translational, clinical, or epidemiological in nature and must focus on the study of various aspects of the tumor microenvironment; including, but not limited to, the role of stroma and extracellular matrix in tumor development, angiogenesis, immunity and inflammation in the tumor microenvironment, as well as approaches to therapeutically target the tumor environment. The grant provides $100,000 over two years ($50,000 per year) for expenses related to the research project, which may include salary and benefits of the grant recipient, postdoctoral or clinical research fellows, graduate students, and/or research assistants, research/laboratory supplies, equipment, publication charges for manuscripts that pertain directly to the funded project, other research expenses, and for attendance at an AACR annual meeting, any AACR tumor microenvironment-related conference, or other AACR meeting for the purpose of participating in scholarly exchange about the funded research.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications for development of translational research programs that are focused upon investigating cancer health disparities. The P20 grants will support feasibility and planning activities to build cancer health disparities research programs. It is the expectation that the research programs developed by the P20 awards should be competitive with other applications for a full Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE), addressing cancer health disparities as a cross-cutting research theme. All applications must propose translational research that will contribute to improved prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and/or treatment of cancers found to disproportionately affect specific racial/ethnic minority populations. Furthermore, all research projects must be focused upon knowledge of human biology with a translational human endpoint proposed. All P20 grants must include a minimum of two well-developed translational research projects, as well as contribute significantly to the development of specialized shared resources core facilities, improved research model systems, and collaborative research activities with other institutions, P20 awardees, and/or current SPORE grantees

The FY20 MRP Translational Research Award (TRA) supports hypothesis-driven, translational, high-impact research. The TRA mechanism encourages applications with mature research projects that specifically focus on critical scientific or clinical melanoma issues, which, if successfully addressed, have the potential to make a major impact. Important factors under consideration will be continuity of research, clinical applicability, and leveraging of clinical samples from clinical trials and/or biorepositories. The TRA supports identifying scientific outcomes, through rigorous, robust research, that are translatable toward treatment and/or preventive strategies. Proposed research should be mature and well developed. Research proposed should aim to accelerate promising findings toward clinical applicability and leverage research results to maximize impact. The TRA is not intended to study research into clinical utility of PD-1 in combination with other therapeutics, or studies utilizing established cell lines. Variety of DOD Melanoma research grants

Grants are made by the Board of Trustees of Ohio Cancer Research taking into account studies and recommendations of the Scientific Review Committee. Grants are available to investigators in either nonprofit or for-profit institutions, offices or clinics within the State of Ohio. However, grants to investigators working for profit-making organizations may not include funds for capital equipment. Grants are made with the stipulation of their use by a particular individual or group who are known as the principal investigator in support of a specific program of research under his/her/their direction. Full professors or their equivalent are not eligible. Only tenure track, junior faculty or equivalent scientific staffs are generally considered as appropriate. Postdoctoral fellows, Research, research assistants, and graduate students are ineligible to apply as P.I.'s, but they may be included as support staff. The P.I. must show evidence of independence. Applicants must be within six years of their first independent research or faculty appointment. Well established investigators should not submit projects related to their current area of research. Investigators previously funded by Ohio Cancer Research must provide justification that this application is significantly different from the previously funded project. Information regarding the results of the previously funded proposal and the P.I.'s success in obtaining further national funding must also be provided. Grants awarded by Ohio Cancer Research are made to support research activities broadly related to cancer and leukemia. Certain types of projects are not recommended for support. Among these are purely clinical work of a non-research nature and requests for the sole purpose of equipping a laboratory.
