Autism Speaks invites applications from predoctoral students interested in pursuing careers in  Autism research. The Dennis Weatherstone Fellows will work directly with mentors who are leading scientists in Autism related research. This program supports the growth of a promising cadre of young  scientists who will make Autism research their chosen field. In order to cross-fertilize ideas and facilitate a network of collaboration, the Weatherstone program will include group interaction among the class of fellows and an annual meeting with the Weatherstone family and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. More information about the Weatherstone program is available on the Autism Speaks website.

Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative Invites LOIs for Bridge to Independence Award Program - 0 views

  •
The BTI program welcomes LOIs that span the breadth of science that SFARI normally supports, including genetics, molecular mechanisms, circuits and systems, and clinical science. While the organization encourages applications from scientists who are working on autism-related projects, the program is also open to researchers who are not currently working on autism but who are interested in starting research projects in autism and who have expertise that could be brought to bear on the disorder.

Explorer Awards RFA - SFARI.org - Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative - 0 views

  •
This award program is designed to enhance our existing support of autism research by providing timely resources to enable focused experiments highly relevant to our mission. A deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying autism spectrum disorders or potential therapeutic approaches will require investigation at multiple levels, including but not limited to studies focused on gene discovery, molecular mechanisms, circuits, anatomy, and cognition and behavior. We will consider proposals at all of these levels. The maximum budget is $60,000, including indirect costs for one (1) year, non-renewable. Explorer Awards are intended to provide resources to support exploratory experiments that will strengthen hypotheses and lead to the formulation of competitive applications for subsequent larger-scale funding by SFARI or other organizations. Innovative, high-risk/high-impact proposals are encouraged. We especially encourage applications from investigators who are new to the field of autism, but who have expertise that could be brought to bear on this complex disorder.

RFA-MH-19-121: Early Screening for Autism Spectrum Disorder (R21 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) - 0 views

  •
The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage research that would develop and validate new screening methods for autism spectrum disorders (ASD) that can be used in infancy (0-12 months of age). This FOA uses the R21 grant mechanism, while RFA- MH-19-120 uses the R01 grant mechanism. Applications with strong preliminary data proposing validation, refinement or final stages of testing of existing tools or methods may be more appropriate for the R01 mechanism. Pilot or exploratory projects with minimal preliminary data, or those proposing early-stage feasibility testing, may be more appropriate for this FOA (R21 mechanism).

Simons Institute Issues RFP for Genomic Analysis for Autism Risk Variants in SPARK Program | RFPs | PND - 0 views

  •
Through the program, grants of up to $100,000 over eighteen months will be awarded to projects that advance our understanding of the genetic basis of autism spectrum disorder. Data to be analyzed through the program will include whole-exome and genome-wide genotyping data from approximately forty-five hundred individuals with ASD enrolled in SPARK and their biological parents. Approximately half of these families will also have genomic data from an unaffected sibling. Whole-genome sequencing data from an additional four hundred ASD individuals, plus their biological parents and unaffected siblings, is also expected to be available. In addition, a limited phenotypic data set on all participants will be available.
