This request for proposals (RFP) is offered by the When Everyone Survives Foundation (WES Foundation) to solicit innovative research in leukemia. Grants of $50,000 for one year are offered to new and established investigators who are requesting support for laboratory, translational, or clinical research related to acute leukemia. The WES Foundation is supporting leukemia research because it recognizes that significant advances in the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of leukemia are needed to achieve the goal of "when everyone survives".  Renewal of initial research support may be considered for one or more additional years based upon productivity.

The When Everyone Survives Foundation was founded to advance cures and treatment for leukemia through support for innovative research. To that end, the foundation has issued its 2018 Request for Proposals for leukemia research. One-year grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded in support of innovative laboratory, translational, or clinical research related to acute leukemia. Renewal of initial research support may be considered for one or more additional years based on productivity. New and established investigators are eligible to apply.

To that end, CLRA is seeking applications from investigators with promising research projects in the area of childhood leukemia. Grants will be awarded to the most promising projects with the goal of isolating the causes of and finding a cure for childhood leukemia. Funding from other sources is permissible, but CLRA funding objectives should not duplicate those of other funding sources.

Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome Foundation (SDSF) is a nonprofit support organization actively helping the victims of this disease. SDSF is accepting grant requests for research relevant to this disease. Any high quality, innovative research proposal deemed relevant to SDS will be considered. The following are areas of particular interest: Investigate or evaluate potential novel therapies or potential novel therapeutic strategies- preferred applications Evaluate predictors of bone marrow abnormalities to determine their correlation with the disease Determine the causes of and investiagte treatments for bone marrow failure and leukemia Evaluate protocols and regimens for bone marrow transplants Evaluate causes and investigate treatments for graft vs host disease and other infections of post bone marrow transplants Investigations related to adult patient presentation, management, and care including transition from pediatric-centered to adult care

This Administrative Supplement funding opportunity announcement is part of the Cancer Moonshot initiative to accelerate cancer research, and was developed in response to a recommendation from the Blue Ribbon Panel of experts charged with advising the National Cancer Advisory Board on the exceptional scientific opportunities that could be accelerated through this initiative. Based on the recommendation to intensify research and form highly dynamic and collaborative networks of investigators to advance our understanding of fusion oncoproteins as drivers of childhood cancers, this FOA supports supplemental funds to current NCI-funded research projects for new interdisciplinary collaborations to perform research within the scientific scope of the parent grant that will lead to better understanding of the mechanisms of action of fusion oncoproteins as drivers of childhood sarcomas, brain cancers, and high risk leukemias.

Roche is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for the 2013 TCRC Young Investigators Award.  The awards are intended to provide support for the earlier stages of scientific research career development, so they are to be awarded to the employing institutions of promising emerging researchers.  Proposals will be evaluated based on scientific merit and innovation of the projects proposed to be conducted using the awards.   Four awards will be presented on Oct 1, 2013 during the scientific symposium inaugurating Roche's Translational and Clinical Research Center in New York City.   Researchers performing investigations (clinical, in vitro/in vivo or informatics) focused on disease understanding of the following disease areas are encouraged to apply: Cardiovascular & Metabolism - Diabetes and related complications   Neuroscience - Spinal Muscular Atrophy Virology - Influenza Oncology - Treatment and diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

The FOA will focus on fusion oncoproteins found in tumors that have high risk of treatment failure and for which there has been little progress in identifying targeted agents. Responsive applications can focus on any fusion oncoprotein in pediatric solid tumors or on NUP98 fusion proteins that occur in young children with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). However, greater preference will be given to applications focused on PAX-FOXO (alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma), C11orf95RELA (ependymoma), or NUP98 fusion proteins.

To advance these goals, the society's Translational Research Program was developed to encourage and provide early support for clinical research in leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma that aim to develop innovative approaches to treatment, diagnosis, and prevention. The program is designed to support new and innovative research that demonstrates high promise for translating basic biomedical knowledge to clinical application. Projects should be based on molecular, cellular, or integrated systems findings and be conceptually innovative.

Grants are made by the Board of Trustees of Ohio Cancer Research taking into account studies and recommendations of the Scientific Review Committee. Grants are available to investigators in either nonprofit or for-profit institutions, offices or clinics within the State of Ohio. However, grants to investigators working for profit-making organizations may not include funds for capital equipment. Grants are made with the stipulation of their use by a particular individual or group who are known as the principal investigator in support of a specific program of research under his/her/their direction. Full professors or their equivalent are not eligible. Only tenure track, junior faculty or equivalent scientific staffs are generally considered as appropriate. Postdoctoral fellows, Research, research assistants, and graduate students are ineligible to apply as P.I.'s, but they may be included as support staff. The P.I. must show evidence of independence. Applicants must be within six years of their first independent research or faculty appointment. Well established investigators should not submit projects related to their current area of research. Investigators previously funded by Ohio Cancer Research must provide justification that this application is significantly different from the previously funded project. Information regarding the results of the previously funded proposal and the P.I.'s success in obtaining further national funding must also be provided. Grants awarded by Ohio Cancer Research are made to support research activities broadly related to cancer and leukemia. Certain types of projects are not recommended for support. Among these are purely clinical work of a non-research nature and requests for the sole purpose of equipping a laboratory.
