Alpert Syndrome Foundation Invites Applications for Paul Silver Enrichment Award | RFPs... - 0 views

  •
The Alport Syndrome Foundation (ASF) is inviting applications for the Paul Silver Enrichment Award in memory of Paul Silver, an Alport syndrome patient. Silver was a film and music editor in Hollywood who passed away in 2004 at the age of 38. In 1985, he was a Communications major studying filmmaking at Pennsylvania State University and needed a camera to document his trip to Tuscany, Italy, where was he was planning to attend a summer study program. Silver applied for, and won, the Anthony Maimone Memorial Award and was able to make a documentary film for the university about his experiences in Italy and the benefits of the program. The purpose of the award is to "pay it forward" and help other young people affected by Alport syndrome achieve one of their goals. The award can be used to complete a project or pursue an activity that will enhance the applicant's life. The program is open to individuals between the ages of 16 and 22 affected by Alport syndrome.  The award selection committee has a total of $3,000 to award, at its discretion, to one or more applications. Applicants will be evaluated on the purpose and potential impact of the award, if the award will allow the applicant to achieve their stated goal, the quality of the essay, recommendation letters, and completeness of the submission. Applications will be accepted between September 1 and November 16, 2019, with winners to be notified in early January 2020.

DoD Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Therapeutic Idea Award - 0 views

  •
The Therapeutic Idea Award is designed to promote new ideas aimed at drug, treatment, and target discovery that are still in the early stages of development. Proposed research projects should include a well-formulated, testable hypothesis based on strong scientific rationale that holds translational potential to improve ALS treatment and/or advance a novel treatment modality. Projects that focus primarily on investigating the pathophysiology of ALS are outside the scope of this mechanism.New for FY15: In addition to hypothesis-based ideas aimed at drug or treatment discovery, the FY15 Therapeutic Idea Award will support the following topics, which were previously supported under the ALSRP Therapeutic Development Award mechanism. Development, validation, and application of high-throughput screens to define targets with therapeutic potential or to identify lead agent candidates for ALS treatment; Development, modification, and/or validation of preclinical model systems in order to assess lead compounds and potential therapeutics by pharmacological and/or pharmacokinetic testing. Such models would also serve as improved tools for the ALS research community.Applicants contemplating development of products beyond drug or treatment discovery should apply to the ALSRP Therapeutic Development Award, which supports advanced preclinical development activities.Innovation and impact are the most important aspects of the Therapeutic Idea Award. Applications that demonstrate exceptional scientific merit but lack innovation and highDoD FY15 ALSRP Therapeutic Idea Award 4potential impact do not meet the intent of the Therapeutic Idea Award. Presentation of preliminary data is not consistent with the intent of the Therapeutic Idea Award mechanism. While the inclusion of preliminary data is not prohibited, the strength of the application should not rely on preliminary data, but on the innovative idea and the potential impact it will provide.

Global Consortium for Reproductive Longevity and Equality - 0 views

  •
The awards are open to researchers based at both national and international accredited academic and nonprofit research institutions. Funding mechanisms include: Senior Faculty Awards ($400,000 per year) - to support established investigators who are thought leaders in their fields and are recognized for substantial contributions of creative and productive research. We will seek to complement other major funders of research by placing emphasis on projects that may not be supported by traditional sources because of their perceived novelty or high risk, or because the investigator is moving into female reproductive aging from a different research area. Junior Faculty Awards ($250,000 per year) - to support newly independent investigators with outstanding promise when they are establishing their own labs and are malleable in the direction of their research. These awards will allow bright young scientists to pursue bold ideas when they are at their most scientifically creative. Pilot Awards ($100,000 per year) - to foster innovative collaborative or novel research projects that have the potential for high impact and high reward at an accelerated rate. These awards will allow collection of preliminary data to apply for larger grants. Postdoctoral Fellowships ($100,000 per year) - to increase the number of imaginative, well-trained junior scientists who will form the next generation of reproductive aging researchers. These awards will facilitate our efforts to build the field and provide both training and networking opportunities for trainees.
