The purpose is to discuss causes of poor intonation and it also provides some diagnostic information. The page also contains links to professional recordings of euphonium players which could serve as a valuable resource to young low brass musicians. 

This is a fun website/tool where woodwind players/students can create their own fingering chart.  It is also another way to assess students on knowing their fingerings for their instrument.  There are a number of ways to change the chart in size and color.  

Tim Price provides free lessons on jazz improvisation, theory, and technique.  These lessons can translate to any instrument and provides a variety of topics for the beginning and advanced jazz player to digest.  The music can be opened in pdf form and printed for personal use.  I have used these exercises when teaching jazz theory and technique and is a great resource for jazz students

This website has access to many professional musicians showcasing their talents through the New World Symphony. They have videos with specific instrumental instruction. If I wanted to show a private bassoon student a website where they can listen to many players, they can access this site and simply search bassoon and listen to famous solos such as The Rite of Spring. This is a great resource to demonstrate what professional musicians sound like in order for them to practice and mimic these sounds.

This site is used for an orchestra unit or when describing specific instruments of the orchestra. Site provide games, pictures, and sounds.

Through support from the New York Philharmonic, this website introduces famous composers, has instrument games, rhythm games, and much more for young students. It also introduces students to some of the actual players in the New York Philharmonic.

The Rhythm Trainer is a simple flash-based game that reinforces rhythm concepts. Students can either enter the rhythm that they hear, or choose the correct audio that matches the rhythm they see. Each example is four beats long, and there are a limited number of rhythms available. Students can select any or all of the 8 rhythms available to practice. Results can be emailed to the student's teacher.

The Rhythm trainer is another great source for helping students learn the principles of ear training. Teachers can load listening examples of varying rhythmic figures which students can respond to picking the examples they think best fit. Students can choose two modes of rhythm training which either provide them with choices for answers or require them build their answers based on the specific rhythms they are being trained on. The Rhythm Trainer does require the use Adobe Flash Player in order to play the examples but can be great for anyone teaching or learning the very basics developing good ear training skills.

This is a great tool to have to teach students rhythm. I use this to teach my private students to strengthen their ability to read rhythm. They find this website quite fun, and they enjoy all of the practices in which assign.

This video provides modeling for developing vibrato for violin players. The instructor is slow, methodical, and clear. This video will be used for my WebQuest.

One of the original titles of music notation software. Finale was first available in the late 1980's and has been in constant development ever since. The software is available in 3 service levels: Finale, Printmusic, and Notepad. Notepad is a free version and only offers limited features. The full version of Finale has full capability to produce professional-looking scores and is also capable of exporting audio and MIDI files. Finale also comes bundled with Garritan Aria player VST and a decent-sounding instrument pack. Finale also features educational worksheets and templates which are very useful for teachers.

Garritan is a virtual instrument provider often bundled with Finale Notation Software. The virtual instrument player is called Aria, and various sound collections are available for purchase. In my experience, the VST works well with Finale, however, does not work well by itself or with other DAWs. This may be due to the low memory and processing speed of my computer.

This site lists all bugle calls. The site provides the sheet music while also describing what each call is for. This is essential for all trumpet players.

It takes the reader/ student through a series of lessons that are chronological in nature. There are links to blogs and products that can help any level of piano player. The videos explaining jazz concepts are well laid out and very educational.

This website offers jazz tutorial videos for jazz pianists. It offers a beginners course where it outlines the basics and slowly increases the difficulty level. Coaching videos are available on a variety of skills and topics

This website provides music reading reinforcement through the use of online flash cards. There are even two versions, in case you do not have access to Flash player.

This is a blog by flute player and teacher Dr. Cate Hummel. She writes weekly posts that offer suggestions on how to improve students' flute playing, as well as equipment suggestions and troubleshooting guides. Her writing style is to the point and easy to understand.

This website has resources for beginning strings and band. All the pieces have easy music patterns that are suitable for beginning players but are arranged in styles that are exciting and motivating to practice. This would be a good place to look for music for a beginning group's first concert. 

Orcehstralbassoon.com is a website that answers a plethora of questions about the bassoon. The bassoon is an instrument that several band directors lack in their own ensembles. When they do have them, many of them do no know how to answer pertinent questions about how to properly play it. This website offers recordings, orchestral excerpts, fingering charts, pedagogical methods, history, and tips on reed making. This is an extremely valuable site for the school band director or orchestral director that wishes to promote good double reed players in their ensemble.

This website features a series of videos presented by legendary jazz trumpet player Wynton Marsalis. Marsalis discusses a wide range of topics including the importance of practice, trumpet technique, the history of jazz, characteristics of jazz music, and famous jazz musicians. Additional teacher resources and websites are also listed.

A recorder resource for beginning through advanced players to be used in the elementary general music classroom. This website has dozens of songs organized by difficulty and separated into "belt levels" for recorder karate. Each song has a recording and brief description of the interesting features.
