A cloud-based DAW, free and easy to use. It is very similar to GarageBand, and users with little music knowledge can easily create quality compositions by dragging and dropping loops. Users can compose music, record live instruments and voice tracks, use MIDI controllers, and export projects to many known file types.

Soundtrap is a browser-based DAW that allows users to create and collaborate compositions or podcasts. Soundtrap offers a paid subscription allowing teachers to setup a private classroom and monitor/grade/comment on their students work. This DAW can be used for a plethora of creative tasks in music. It's primary affordance is that it is browser-based and compositions are saved via cloud storage.

Users can also easily collaborate with others, and the program can be accessed via computer, tablet, or cell phone. It provides a user-friendly experience that music students can work with to express creativity through composition.

This is a clip with Bobby McFerrin, using the audience to sing. Bobby McFerrin improvises over the top as he creates the baseline for the audience to sing. He also mentions that the pentatonic scale is understood by all of his audiences no matter where he goes. This can be an interesting way to introduce a pentatonic scale to students, or improvising in a pentatonic scale. This is part of a larger TED talk entitled "Notes & Neurons: In Search of the Common Chorus"

This TED Talk informs students about the natural connection humans have with music. Bobby McFerrin describes the nature of the pentatonic scale. This is a resource I like to introduce when first learning about the pentatonic scale. This shows students that music and nature are connected. I also use this for my students when I talk about the Fibonacci sequence with my math and music unit.

This website provides FREE sheet music for use in the classroom, private lessons, or ceremonial events. Students can sing or play with the built in playback features or print the music. Tempo and accompaniment can be adjusted and added. It would be perfect for sight-reading exercises or event use.

The graphics on this website are amazing- any child would enjoy browsing through and learning about musical instruments, composition, and composers. Also very neat is the game where you can "play" different musical instruments. The numbers on the computer keypad become notes in a scale!

This is a website that i have used with my students, more so free time. Allowing to practice their skill but also have fun doing it as it relates to games. The purpose of this would be for students to explore having fun with music!.

Flat is a cloud-based online music notation software. This is another alternative to Finale Notepad, MuseScore, and Noteflight.

FLAT is essentially Google's attempt at notation software. Thus, it is extremely intuitive. Though more limited than other programs, it essentially does everything a student composer would need. Students can sign up for an account with a Gmail address and can easily share their scores with each other and their teacher.

Music notation softwares like Finale and Sibelius are quite costly for students to purchase and use. Flat.io is a free online music notation software that allows you to notate music online, and share it with your friends in the cloud. It is collaborative in a way that people get to comment on your music, and you also get to comment on other people's compositions. All you need is to sign up with either google, facebook, or with your email address. It is a good resource for teachers to set notation assignments, and while students do the assignments, they learn many concepts in music such as tempo, speed, dynamics, phrasing, structure, to mention but a few.

This website is filled with information about every song you can imagine. It also includes information about artists as well as some fun games and trivia concerning musicians. A top ten list of songs is given with further explanation about the music.

This site is a great resource to help students get into the minds of their favorite pop artists. Students often find it easier to connect to pop tunes than to classical music. This site provides a list of different pop tunes/artists along with descriptions about those pieces and artists. This helps students realize the thought behind creating music, which they can then transfer to their school music class. This site also includes blogs about songwriter interviews, quizzes, and song facts to name a few. The featured songs fall into the category "daily top ten" or "weekyl top ten," keeping the songs up-to-date and easy for young students to recognize/connect with.

This website is a great resource for discovering the stories behind popular songs. The list of songs seem to be extensive and include pieces that would be familiar to students. This resource could help create a relevant curriculum that speaks to the non-traditional music student's interests and their music experience.

This is the kids' section of the New York Philharmonic. It has very informative pages about instruments and composers. It also has games for composition, and musical puzzles. You do need to download shockwave to view the content, but it's worth it.

This website is great for elementary students to reinforce the instruments and instrument families found in the orchestra. Students can listen to the sound of each instrument and watch short videos. There are great games and assessments for students to use, I highly recommend the Orchestration Station.

This is an online interactive game for EVERYONE! Students are presented the chance to design their own opera, embark with interactive chamber music, access music resources, and even engage the entire family with a family listening activity.

Educationdgree.com is a beneficial website for me to share with my students. My program is unique in the sense that we not only teach our students the art of playing the steel drum but we work on molding them in to well-rounded citizens as well. This involves several mandatory workshops and a few are focused on college matriculation and registration. This site has the possibility of helping students come to these workshops with a few choices of colleges and universities in mind.

Tonal Energy provides individualized instruction and videos for band and orchestra students. Each instrument is listed and linked to a fingering chart, exercises, scales, instrument care, and videos of professional artists. The website also has a place for discussion between other musicians, teachers, and students. One of the best items about Tonal Energy is the tuner App. The TE Tuner provides a visual representation beyond the original needle and shows the students proper intonation through a smiley face and colored circles.

The San Francisco Kids website offers students many musical activities from listening, performing, composing and even conducting. I think that my elementary music students would love this site, and that it would also work well on the SMARTboard in class. I think the visuals would keep students engaged, and excited about music learning.

This is an excellent resource that will help teachers teach their students to compose and expand their own knowledge of teaching. 

This site serves as a practice tool for students of music theory, ear training, or general music. The site includes recordings for use in interval identification, rhythmic dictation, chord identification, and a variety of other ear training concepts. This would be an excellent resource for teachers who wish to provide their students with practical experience in ear training via technology. Students could practice at home or in a computer lab.

This is a website that uses videos and games to teach students about jazz and instrument identification. Is definitely geared toward younger students, probably in a general music setting. However, I could see it being used with middle school jazz band students as well.
