The Army Field Band provides a free jazz resource to the public. It is called Perspectives: Resources for Jazz Education. They provide royalty free big band charts from grade 1 through 6. They also have posters and other multimedia resources that include videos, education reference recordings, and a video series on the history of the big band and the individual instruments roll in the band.

SmartMusic has interactive, web-based editions of many popular instrumental, band, chorus, and orchestra method books, as well as a massive collection of sheet music. Students can listen, loop, record and submit pieces they are working on. A neat feature of SmartMusic is that students can click on a single note and hear how it is supposed to sound, and how to finger that note on their instrument. Students can adjust tempo, play with a metronome, use a tuner to check pitch, and more. A paid subscription allows teachers to create online classrooms for assigning and assessing work, and have access to the entire SmartMusic catalog.

SmartMusic is music learning software for music teachers and students. It makes music learning easy and fun. Students can continue their learning outside school. Teachers can also assess students outside the school wall. Smart music is good for rehearsals because a student can rehearse at home when the teacher is listening in and correcting him/her from anywhere else. It is easy to access and a good resource for music classes.

The purpose of the resource is for student and teacher practice/classroom tools. The content included in this source is a subscription to a web-based service that allows students and educators access to sight-reading material, repertoire accompaniments, and method books. Could be useful for encouraging student practice

This website contains PDFs of music that is available for free to download in the United States. The music is public domain or available via a Creative Commons license. There is also an option to purchase some music. While bandmusicpdf.org is strictly for wind band music, IMSLP contains music for band and orchestra, as well as vocal and other instrumental works. This is very helpful with finding older music or replacing parts, especially with music that is out of print.

The International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP) is a great site to find timeless works of instrumental and vocal music. The site is free to use, but membership is available. The public domain site is easy to navigate and provides scores and recordings out thousands of composers and their music. Make sure not to click on advertisements and download something on accident in the free version. This site is a great resource for educators to find musical works from great composers that are no longer in print, and they is free.

IMSLP is a website where anyone can search music that is no longer under copyright law. Here you can find music from a symphony score to a Beethoven piano piece. This resource can be used by growing student-run ensembles that wish to perform classical music. I use this website when I want to practice bassoon repertoire or when I need to find another piece to practice on piano. This is also a great resource to show students how to properly find music with educated keyword searches through a public domain.

I found this great site while looking for composer biographies for my second graders. This site has a wide range of free printable such as listening maps, word searches, games, and biographies. The information is appropriate for elementary school students.

Gary P. Gilroy Music is a website to listen to and purchase music for band programs. Here you can purchase marching band shows with music and choreography as well as concert band , indoor percussion and drumline music. He also offers custom marching show design and unique compositions.

Welcome to Opus Music Worksheets, a database of high quality, free printable music education resources for download, including free sheet music, music theory worksheets, music flashcards, music business forms, and many other free music learning resources for music teachers, music students, and parents.

Opus Music has a great series of music worksheets suitable for general music and ensemble classes. The lessons are sequential and logical and provide clear descriptions of each topic in the lesson material before providing exercises for completion. The worksheets are available in downloadable PDF formats. These worksheets would also work well as substitute assignments if needed as a non-music teacher could figure out the directions.

The Opus Music website is a great resource for teachers looking for free printables. It is not a in-depth site, but instead offers a series of music theory worksheets, speed note name tests as well as flashcards and teacher printables for: business cards, lesson registration, lesson assignment and lesson billing. This site is geared towards a private studio teacher, but I have found the theory worksheets useful for beginning music students as well. All the material is free. There are also links to music teaching resources.

This site is amazing!!! The purpose of this resource is to provide not only teachers, but parents, students, and kids the tools necessary to enhance musical learning. The musical content on this site includes but is not limited to history lessons, composer biographies and activities, instrument identification lessons, orchestral breakdown, a vast musical library, and tons of supporting pdf documents and sheet music for classroom/non-classroom instruction. It is a performing arts site, so you should also check out or pass along knowledge for french and dance educators as well!

Arts Alive provides teacher, parent, and student resources including lessons of composers, activities and games, instrument lab, recordings, and videos.

This Google Doc is a collection of band music that members of the Facebook Band Director's Group have curated. To add a piece to the list, teachers must have taught it twice and deemed it to be a worthy piece of repertoire. Since this is in the format of a Google Doc, it is easily sortable by grade or composer.

This could be a great music resource for any teacher or student. If you have an older score or piece that you are looking for, it is probably on this website. This could be a good resource for score study or advanced theory study.

There is a large selection, and CPDL offers useful search features such as listing all musical settings of a text, searching by language, type of piece, and by musical era. Other information: This is a good resource for directors who do not have large music budgets, are looking to find different settings of specific texts, or are looking for music from a specific time period.

This website includes educational videos, PDFs of fingering charts, trill charts, seating charts, and links to music and music vendors. This is a great website to visit for useful links all stored in one place.

This is a forum-based website where teachers can share resources and media that they find useful. Available media include videos, fingering charts, rubrics, and blog posts, just to name a few. Though primarily geared towards middle school level, their are resources that can be found useful for all levels of band instruction.

This website is a great resource for K-5 music.  There are jokes, games, and information regarding famous composers, including recordings of famous pieces of music.  This can be used by a classroom of kids in a computer lab, or by a teacher for lesson planning.

Classics for Kids is a resources for teachers, parents, and children. It provides lesson plans, music games and interactive links, a podcast, tips for parents, and information about composers, instruments, and music history. The lesson plans (written by my former music education professor, Dr. Kay Edwards) are standards-based and incorporate elements of Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroze.

This is a subscription-based website (free to join) that contains over 30,000 classical music files by various composers in MIDI, MP3, or WMA streaming file formats. You can download up to 5 songs per day, and it also contains biographies and historical timelines.

A companion website to HyperHistory Online, this website contains recordings of classical pieces that can be easily accessed. It can be searched by time period or composer. A handy resource if covering a music history unit.
