ClassDojo is a classroom management website that allows the teacher to create a profile for each student to give them positive and negative feedback on behavior. Parents can log in at any time to see how their students are doing in class!

Excellent tool to use, especially when classroom teachers are already using it. It is like a FaceBook page for your class. You can easily message parents, post videos and updates, and keep track of behavior (positive and negative).

This is a great practice app to share with students. This webpage also includes a link to other apps useful to applied music students.

This short video explains how the brain reacts to practice and repetition of activities. It reviews the neural pathways and the process that the brain goes through when something is being learned. An interesting fact mentioned in this video is that a study proved that the performance level of mentally envisioning practicing an activity and actually performing the activity produces similar results.

A great resource for music advocacy as well as how other teachers are promotting their programs for the overall development for their students. Music Matters is a foundation that provides funding to schools who are in danger of losing their programs or need assistance in raising funds for their programs.

This site offers resources about the current state of music education as well as useful articles about music advocacy. The purpose of this site is to inform people about the importance of music eduction and keep them updated about the important events happening today that may change the state of music education. My school district was actually recognized as one of the districts to receive "Best Community for Music Education" by NAMM. Not only is this site useful for music educators, but it also has articles about the role of community members and administrators in advocating for music education.

NAMM (National Association for Music Merchants) is a leader in music education. Their trade show every year draws the most important music companies from around the world. NAMM helps music education by providing a place for music educators to learn about the innovations and products available to them. Their website offers grant opportunities for teachers, and information for parents.

Good Ear helps with ear training. The website will customize exercises to the level of the learner as they learn to identify music intervals.

What a great resource site for music recordings! Our student computers block YouTube, thus this site will be great for my students who wish to research and listen to new music. Currently, a second grade "reading" group will be writing biographies of composers, and I want them to be able to listen to their compositions.

This website offers free music streams and downloads. This is all royalty free music which makes the streams and downloads completely legal and free. The site allows you to search by composer, performer, period, form, and numerous other ways.

Mrs. Miracle's Music Room has a wealth of information. Besides the usual blog with free lesson plans and a link to her www.teacherspayteachers.com store, she also has a link to her podcast and facebook group. She includes easy to use labels to sort the blogs as well as a link to highlight her classroom design and organization. Her blogs range in topics from specific lesson plans to teacher self-care and learning styles in the music classroom. She is a Kodaly trained teacher and her blog is geared towards K-6 general music.

The blog has a myriad of resources for the elementary music classroom. I have followed this blog for years and have pulled resources and ideas from it quite often. Examples of resources I have used recently are music centers and music technology/iPad apps.

Mrs. Miracle's blog incorporates a ton of resources for the elementary school teacher. She posts podcasts, lesson plans, and different activities that she does in her classroom. There is also the option to download freebies or purchase activities from her store (similar to Teachers Pay Teachers).The blog also discusses learning styles and best practices that Aileen incorporates in her daily teaching.

The purpose of this website is to find songs to use in the elementary music room with ukulele tabs. A ukulele is much easier to work with when dealing with young students and this website provides many song resources with the ukulele tab. The chords can also be transposed to make playing them easier. The current song that is linked is a favorite of my Kindergarten students.

Each month, they feature a different composer and provide activities, handouts, and listening maps that help students learn about various topics in classical music history. There are also online games for kids and lesson plans for teachers.

Music Learning Community is a site for music educators and music students that includes a great deal of information on computer-based learning. Included are games and activities that teach theory and build aural skills. There is a free trial but the site requires a membership fee.

This website offers hundreds of interactive games to teach students music theory, rhythms, ear-training, sight-reading, and notation analysis. Designed to make learning musical concepts and take-home assignments more fun and engaging, these games are broken down into various levels for students. Lower levels can be effective for early elementary students, and higher levels can be effective for students in high school. Games are colorful and entertaining, and they list certain scores that students should strive to achieve. Most games have a lesson version, a practice version, and a quiz version. Teachers can track scores and data of individual students to see strengths and weaknesses.

This website has many games that can be used to learn various musical concepts. Some games are free, but there are more games with the paid subscription. You can pay monthly or yearly and it can be used for 5 to 50 people.

Morton Subotnick's Creating Music has a variety of music games and activities that would be suited for an elementary curriculum. I would like to use this website as a center in my classroom, to allow students to explore simple music creation and music listening.

Creating music is a site preferably for younger learners. It provides practice on pitches, timbres, ear training, and memorization.

Younger musicians can use this website to understand pitch, hearing music and create basic compositions. There is an iPad application that goes along with it and it is completely free and a great educational tool for younger children.

This is an online game that helps students learn about the different instruments and families of the orchestra. Uncle Oly and Violet go on an adventure trying to find the instruments of the orchestra and put them back together in their correct places. Students will learn about the sounds of the instruments, what family they belong to, and where they are placed in the orchestra.

This is a website that goes through the instruments of the orchestra, and has a whole lesson for Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. There are also games and short videos for students to watch.
