    Yousician is a great software resource that teaches students to play a number of instruments including: piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, and voice. The software is set-up in a creative, game-like structure that tracks student progress and ability level through playing assessments. It's a great tool to use during general music units that focus on performance practice of these different instruments. The free version is open to all for a full 20 minutes a day. Great tool for students of all ages.

Students with access to a computer or other device at home can build their instrumental playing skills on ukulele, guitar, bass, or piano with this self-guided program. Additionally, this resource can be used in the general music classroom to teach interval training, intonation, and rhythmic accuracy.

    This website is suitable for teachers who give students free time to work on music games. Many different music topics are taught by the music teachers and a better way for students to retain the information would include turning some of their assignments into competition. One thing i have learned, elementary students love to be competitive, so if the students are able to get high scores on music games, then they are retaining and getting the information.

    Great free DAW to help give students a chance to explore loop software. This is a simple and easy access for students instead of needing them to use GarageBand or Mixcraft on a limited amount of computers. The possibility of having an account and working from anywhere is a big plus for using this DAW

    Soundtrap is a browser-based DAW that allows users to create and collaborate compositions or podcasts. Soundtrap offers a paid subscription allowing teachers to setup a private classroom and monitor/grade/comment on their students work. This DAW can be used for a plethora of creative tasks in music. It's primary affordance is that it is browser-based and compositions are saved via cloud storage.

Users can also easily collaborate with others, and the program can be accessed via computer, tablet, or cell phone.     The 2014 Music Standards are the new standards to follow and are available through the National Association for Music Education Music Standards (NAfME). There are links available to the various standards which include PK-8 General Music, Composition/Theory, Music Technology, Guitar/Keyboard/Harmonizing Instruments, and Ensemble. Included with the standards are the categories of create, perform, respond, and connect. There are also links to a glossary and enduring understanding, essential questions, and definitions about the new standards.

    This website was created by Jon F. Mueller, a professor of psychology and neuroscience at North Central College in Illinois. Mueller discusses the differences between traditional assessment and authentic assessment - two different concepts that have different long-term goals and outcomes for students. Mueller, a strong advocate for authentic assessment, provides various examples to illustrate the pros and cons of both methods of assessment at different levels and fields of education, while providing data and research to support his stance. Mueller also provides information and structured examples on how educators can incorporate authentic assessment (in many forms) in their classrooms.

    The purpose of this resource is to help students with ear training for interval recognition using familiar tunes. The musical content is in the form of links to YouTube clips that demonstrate different intervals. This source is valuable for teachers because it builds on what students know (the familiar tunes) and provides immediate links for patterns of intervals both ascending and descending. It also allows you to select only the examples you want to use and print them out on their own chart. It also provides tutorials and music facts about theory and technology. Like many other software programs, it offers a free trial, making it more marketable and appealing to teachers and students alike.

You can create your own song chart of favorite pieces to use as an example of each interval in ascending or descending patterns.     EarMaster organizes an ample amount of repertoire for learning specific intervals. The music examples are categorized by ascending and descending intervals of minor/major 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, perfect 4th, 5th, octaves, and tritones. The youtube examples will start immediately where the specified interval can be heard. Students can choose to memorize any examples listed to help them remember the sound of specific intervals.

    This site offers a service that one wishes they had until they realize it exists. Essentially, if offers lists of songs that can be used to teach intervals. For many choirs - both middle and high school - the majority of students have not had proper ear training. A fun and effective way to do this remedially is to use familiar or easy to sing songs that students can reference to develop their ears. This site puts many song titles in one place to help facilitate that.

    Interval Song Chart Generator is a listing of intervals and includes various songs which represent the interval. Simply select a song for each descending and ascending interval. Videos accompany the example, however, you can easily make it into an aural example. Once you select your song choices, then you can generate your own list and print it out. You can even submit your own songs to the forum. This is a very useful resource for ear training and specifically helpful for choirs.
