On this website there is information about helping students compose, rhythm, teaching, music games, theory, and so much more. This is an excellent resource that will help teachers teach their students to compose and expand their own knowledge of teaching. 

K-12 Resources for Music Educators is a wonderful site which provides a number of links which connect teachers to music resources. The links are divided into categories such as band, orchestra, choral, classroom, and music. The links provided give a variety of musical sites which provide information on specific instruments, types of music, and state websites.

A great deal of information can be found on the websites listed and you have a great deal of choices to choose from. Most subject areas have multiple websites linked for differing information sources.

Teachers should use social media cites, e.g., blogs, to facilitate discussion and feedback from students, create online PLNs. The cross curricular benefit is increasing writing facility and literacy. A couple of concerns are cyberbullying and parents who may question how much learning is taking place with social media. Educators can help others, including students, understand that music learning can take place outside of the classroom through social media and broaden the audience.

How to make accommodations for music students with special needs has always been a topic of conversation; however, as author Mary Rogelstad suggests, we have nothing to fear; among her list of recommended strategies for effective differentiation are items like teaching lessons that appeal to multiple senses and varying the speed of the content, or repertoire, to be learned and performed. NAFME is a vital resource for music educators. This website provides communication and collaboration via forums, lesson plans, standards, frequently posted articles, and even more resources for music educators of all varieties. It is an excellent way to stay involved in the music education community, and it continuously strives to improve the state of music education nation-wide.

Michele Weir's vocal improvisation blog includes several videos about scat singing. This particular video brings math into the discussion of jazz song form. There are many more instructional videos on her website, as well as other resources for aspiring jazz singers.

Resource for UF Masters in Music Education. NAfME offers a plethora of resources for teachers and administration. This site can show you how to spread advocacy, current legislation that is being pushing on the Hill, lesson plans, or blogs to talk with fellow educators.

Choral Potpourri/Choral Ethics: Auditions is a blog article by Marie Grass Amenta about a man who began his career as a demanding and emotionless choir director. His interpersonal skills were non-existant with his choir. After self-reflection he soon discovers this is not really who he is. A young girl who auditioned for his choir was seen crying afterwards and he decided he can't pretend to be someone he isn't. That experience was a life-changing moment after which he left his current position and went to a community chorus and is now in a more relaxed, enjoyable environment for all.

This blog is run by Angela Harman, who is an orchestra teacher in Utah. She has several great posts on starting beginner strings, recruitment, and even re-energizing rehearsals. She also has a book on shifting, which can be tricky to teach.
