DonorsChoose is a great place to start looking for additional aid for your classroom. You can pose a project that you need funding for, if its more instruments, books, materials, and/or other resources that you may need, but can't get your district to obtain. It is very easy to use and you create a project where people can find or search and donate their own money to fund. You can have several people donate and you can share your proposal on various forms of social media to help spread the word. The choral teacher and I did a few projects and we were able to get Orff Instruments, Drums, and even Ipods for the kids. You have to follow up with DonorsChoose and send photos and thank you letters from the students to show how you are using the materials in the classroom. It is a perfect way to receive that additional funding for your program.

DonorsChoose is a miracle for programs with little to no budget. You can create an account as an educator and create projects that go towards your classroom. You can ask for anything from Chromebooks to instruments and sheet music. Donors from all over the world can donate and support your classroom. This is the resource that helped me build my band program.

Best Practices for Children's Choir is a podcast with Matthew Parker discussing his best practices when working with a children's choir. The discussion content ranges from choosing music to engaging in warm-ups. Matthew also shares his favorite octavos, composers/arrangers, warm-ups, and tips when choosing music. This is very useful information and a great resource to use when working with your elementary and/or middle school choir.

A great resource for finding choral music. You can search or click on seasons, styles, composers, etc. This is a very useful site for anyone who teaches choir.

This wiki has thousands of choral works available for use, free of charge. Music can be accessed by season or composer, making locating songs easier.

ChoralWiki is like the wikipedia of choral music. This website has a lot of choral songs that either music teachers composed or even music from the past that was not included with copyright laws. The best part about this website is that all of the music is free!

Purpose of this resource: This is an excellent source of information, sheet music, lesson plans, and worksheets for the elementary music educator. Musical Content: This webpage contains composer biographies, sheet music downloads, worksheets, music theory games, music dictionaries, private teacher directories and more. The content is geared toward students in grades K-6. Other information: This webpage has excellent, free content, but some of the advertisements on the page may by inappropriate for display in class. Educators should find the resource they need and then print out hard copies for use in class.

This website has a lot of lesson plan ideas, theory worksheets, games, piano music and more all for free (mostly). I like to use this website if I want to find a new way to teach an old music concept.

a TED talk on how music benefits the brain. This is a well known video but a worthwhile one to have easy access to!

This modest but interesting site traces the history of rock music by decade, from its roots in the African American Rhythm and Blues to the grunge craze of the 1990s. Along the way, readers can glean interesting tidbits (did you know that the term "rock and roll" was coined by Cleveland disc jockey Alan Freed?) from well-constructed essays, and view classic photos of rockers across the generations.

For my History of Rock and Roll class! This is a great website with a detailed timeline of Rock music. This can be easy to add to the classroom or give to the students for resources. 

This website is a great source if you are wanting to learn more about Rock n' Roll music, especially when teaching it. The specific content relates to teaching music history, specifically American music history.

This website allows music educators to post and collaborate with other educators on their ideas and methods. The content focuses on teaching strategies, music technology programs, reading material for the integration of technology into the music classroom, and articles on continuing education.

This website was developed by music education and technology experts Dr. Joseph M. Pisano and Amy M. Burns. It includes blog posts from both educators, and discusses ideas for incorporating technology into elementary and secondary classrooms. Available music technology, software, and freeware resources are listed. Also included are examples of how this technology is used by children in their classrooms.

The Cleveland Orchestra's Education & Community website includes learning/teaching opportunities for families, educators, and adults, and has performance opportunities for youth. This is a well-developed webpage that engages youth to adults.

This is a great website for all jazz piano players. This is for the beginning jazz pianist or the experienced. It takes the reader/ student through a series of lessons that are chronological in nature. There are links to blogs and products that can help any level of piano player. The videos explaining jazz concepts are well laid out and very educational.

This website lists a large assortment of music education games that cover aural training, composers, compositions, instruments, notation, and symbols/vocabulary. "Ultimate List" is an accurate title! This looks like a compilation of several games from several websites all pulled into one. This is fantastic.

These are free and students could even use them while at home and teachers can use to reinforce any lesson.

After using this website for a graduate level course in American Vernacular Music History, I was really impressed with it's use for educators. Organize music history in a timeline view to allow students to click and learn more on their own.
