This is a site that I use frequently. Not only does the site provide useful information regarding musical ensembles and private instructors for those who live within the institute's service region, but it also serves as a resource for videos and recordings of professional clarinet players students may use as models. Furthermore, the site contains a variety of sheet music for all band and orchestra instruments. Sheet music may be downloaded from the site, or entire libraries may be purchased on a CD containing pdf files. This site makes access to solo and other forms of music literature a breeze!

She also has a link to her store on www.teacherspayteachers.com. Her website has a page dedicated to the design of her classroom, as well as her upcoming workshops around the United States. She also has an easy to use label feature so you can find blog posts relating to a specific topic such a 1st grade or assessments.

This is a good resources for music educators to find new projects and information about virtual ensembles. These will help to motivate the children and allow them with opportunities for collaboration.

This website is a game developed by Carnegie Hall that helps younger students learn the instruments of the orchestra. The game uses Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. This interactive game helps students understand the layout of an orchestra, the ranges of the individual instruments, and how they sound individually and together in an ensemble. This is an excellent tool for elementary music!

Admittedly, I'm a total geek for the "old classics", but I find this website absolutely amazing! In about 3 minutes time I was able to locate about a half dozen pieces that I've been looking for at some point or another since I started teaching. I think there are resources that every band director could use here.

So many of the old marches and waltzes are out of print and difficult to come by, but this website has an extensive list of great works that are all public domain. A great resource not only for finding pieces to play, but also for doing some traditional score study.

Educator Seth Gamba provides his audience with a plethora of strategies for teaching rhythm in the ensemble setting. These include but are not limited to repeating exercises and excerpts as well as counting out loud. Most notably, each of the strategies he suggests can be adapted for use in just about any music classroom, including band, orchestra, chorus, and even general music. Using Google Classroom in a general music room makes a lot of sense. Your students can do research, turn in papers, forms, and tests, all online. How about a large ensemble though? Google Classroom is a tool that you will want to utilize for your playing tests. Students can record themselves and submit their recordings for you to view. This allows them to practice and record at home without taking up valuable performance time during school.

What a great resource site for music recordings! Our student computers block YouTube, thus this site will be great for my students who wish to research and listen to new music. Currently, a second grade "reading" group will be writing biographies of composers, and I want them to be able to listen to their compositions.

8notes.com provides an incredible variety of free and subscription based printable music for instrumentalists and vocalists. The site categorizes the music by instrument, composer, level of difficulty, etc. This is a great resource to share with students who are looking for solo or ensemble repertoire ideas, in addition to rock/pop, jazz, and world music selections for personal enrichment and entertainment purposes. 

This website contains PDFs of wind band music that is available for free to download in the United States. The music is public domain or available via a Creative Commons license. This is very helpful with finding older music or replacing parts, especially with music that is out of print.

This band music library includes pieces that were written for American Town Bands. American Town Bands used to be so popular that almost every town in my region of Massachusetts had one. Sadly, these bands have been slowly dying out. Thanks to this website, you can find free music that those bands used to play and revive them with your ensembles.

This resource is very beneficial for the improvement of sight-reading skills. Users can choose different levels, keys, time signatures, and specific rhythms to help develop sight-reading proficiency. This is a valuable resource for both classroom and private music educators

The Sight Reading Factory generates excerpts of music based on parameters entered by the user. It is especially useful for practicing specific areas of music-reading skills (e.g. bass clef, odd-meters, difficult rhythms), or reinforcing general concepts of reading traditionally-notated music. While the site is good for the practice of mechanics, one might argue that robotically-created music is less useful for the development of musicality (or that computer-composed music isn't "music" at all). Excerpts can be generated for individuals singing or playing instruments, or for ensembles. There is also a section for solfege pattern practice. This resource creates sheet music excerpts for reading practice, without much regard to form or structure--it does not generate full works of literature for performance.

This website offers specific melodies created to assist students in learning Sight Reading skills. Paying for a membership would be beneficial in order to fully use the website, but not necessary to access activities for classroom use.

The Smartmusic Blog, also called the Music Educators Blog is a blog based extension of www.smartmusic.com. The purpose of the blog is to give tips on many aspects of music education that teachers can use in the classroom, not just for information on the Smartmusic program. The blogs are written by music educators as well as Makemusic staff members. Teachers can use this website as their own personal professional development or as a ways to show students what is available in Smartmusic.

Why is an "A" not enough when performing music? This YouTube band video demonstrates how a piece of music sounds when it is played with only 90% or even 98% accuracy and how vitally important it is to strive for 100% when performing. This video may be a very useful tool for any music educator to teach students about the importance of always striving for the highest degree of excellence in music...and in life.
