    This website contains PDFs of music that is available for free to download in the United States. The music is public domain or available via a Creative Commons license. There is also an option to purchase some music. While bandmusicpdf.org is strictly for wind band music, IMSLP contains music for band and orchestra, as well as vocal and other instrumental works. This is very helpful with finding older music or replacing parts, especially with music that is out of print.

    The International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP) is a great site to find timeless works of instrumental and vocal music. The site is free to use, but membership is available. The public domain site is easy to navigate and provides scores and recordings out thousands of composers and their music. Make sure not to click on advertisements and download something on accident in the free version. This site is a great resource for educators to find musical works from great composers that are no longer in print, and they is free.

    IMSLP is a website where anyone can search music that is no longer under copyright law. Here you can find music from a symphony score to a Beethoven piano piece. This resource can be used by growing student-run ensembles that wish to perform classical music. I use this website when I want to practice bassoon repertoire or when I need to find another piece to practice on piano. This is also a great resource to show students how to properly find music with educated keyword searches through a public domain.

It has links to free sheet music for all instruments as well as voice, piano, mixed groups, strings as well as voice, piano, mixed instrument groups. This also includes guitar and ukulele. All genres of music are also represented. This would be a great enhancement website for lessons as well.

    Making Music Fun is a great website for resources for music educators. There are tons of theory worksheets (some more appropriate for elementary school students), lessons, composer biographies and worksheets, and activities for the music classroom. There is also a library of piano music that is well-written for beginners and available in a variety of levels. Some features over the years now require purchase, but there are still tons of resources available for free.

    This site has a lot of free sheet music and allows students to print it off and practice sight reading. This site also has a tuner, scales, and a metronome to allow students to practice properly. The purpose of this resource is to allow students to stay engaged and practice music of their choice when they get bored with the music for concerts. This helps them stay engaged and not get burned out.

    8notes.com is full of music resources such as free sheet music and supplemental material for lessons. The sheet music includes categories such as classical, pop, jazz, film/TV, and traditional. Any music teacher knows how frequently students ask for specific tunes from television or movies. Even though they may not be played in class, students can greatly benefit from private practice on tunes they enjoy. 8notes.com also includes over forty theory lessons. These lessons begin with learning about lines and spaces on the staff and continue through many concepts all the way to the introduction of modes. In addition to the lessons, this website provides ear training exercises to accompany the theory lessons. 8notes.com is a great resource for all music teachers, not just instrumental or vocal. This site includes music and lessons for all instruments including banjo and ukulele, making it great for a general music classroom as well.

Not only is this site useful for music educators, but it also has articles about the role of community members and administrators in advocating for music education.

    Another document from Dr. William Bauer about making music with an iPad created by Dr. William Bauer for the International Society for Technology in Education on June 24, 2013. A tremendous resource for creating performing, understanding and responding to music with an iPad. Also, there are links for general administrative and productivity apps which are useful for other academic disciplines.  Additionally, there is a lot of information that is useful about hardware and connecting the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad. Great resource for using iPads in the music classroom, which is what is needed for me personally.

Dr. Bauer creates lists separated into apps that will create music, perform music, help with understanding music, ease administration, and other resources.     A band director friend of mine told me about this site last summer.  There is a password, which is:  Grainger The Band Director Posthaven began with the Band Director Facebook page and the originator of the page, Brian Wis, wanted a place to share files with other band directors. This is a great resource in which band directors share files and other resources to assist the daily needs of a band director.  These files include posters, music (warm-ups, chorales, technique builders, curriculum guides, recruit tools and ideas, rubrics, music appreciation activities, band room rule/policies, how to deal with administrators, and more).  With the resources being submitted by band directors, this is a great source for new band directors and band directors at new schools.   I have used this site to find pitch tendency charts, scale sheets, and three excellent warm-ups.  You can spend hours upon hours searching this site.  Most of the files are PDFs which allows to open and print form any computer with a PDF reader.  There are some Microsoft Office documents which can be a problem.  Be mindful that some of the music repertoire may needs some adjustments for your ensembles needs or you have to add instruments to the instrumentation (missing Baritone TC, Oboe, Bassoon, or Baritone Sax parts)

    The Music Education Blogs link contains links to blogs for all sorts of music educators.  The links are catered to specific school settings, teaching methodologies, ensembles, and free online services.  I enjoyed exploring several of the blogs because blogging is something I've just become acquainted to within my graduate studies with the University of Florida's Online Master of Music.  For example, I clicked on the "Elementary Blogs" tab to see what some of my elementary music educator colleagues have to say/share.  A handful of links to other teachers' blogs and websites were made available at a click of the mouse.  I clicked on the first link, "Mrs. Miracle's Music Room," and was able to read posts from "Mrs. Miracle" about her teaching strategies for classroom management when utilizing technology.  Her blog contained other features like a personal bio and links.  My blog for this course doesn't contain those things, and perhaps exploring the blogger.com website more would allow me to make similar changes to my Blog. Being able to share ideas within any online community, in this case a blogging community, could be so useful for any sort of educator.  Considering we are currently enrolled in an online Master of Music program, we are capable of sharing ideas from across the country and even across the globe.  This blog link just makes that possibility more accessible with more educators.

    This is a document that is a resource for creativity and technology for music learning put together by Dr. William Bauer for the FETC in Orlando, Florida on January 31, 2014. Other headings include: technology to facilitate musical creativity and general cloud-based technologies useful for facilitating musical creativity. This page is an excellent resource to develop ideas for learning with technology in the classroom. Many of the programs are free, easy to use and applicable to many educational ideas.

Each item on the list will facilitate organization, creativity, or music learning. Dr. Bauer comprised a list of fifty resources to integrate technology into the music classroom including notation software, cloud-based libraries, media players, and organizational tools.

    The purpose of this resource is to categorize and house a large quantity of choral music. As a resource this site could be used to find a range of music for performances, warm up exercise, chorales and instrumental playing. The options for voicing and parts in very broad which makes the amount of music available vast. When searching composers, it is best to know specifics as some composers share similar surnames.

Each month, they feature a different composer and provide activities, handouts, and listening maps that help students learn about various topics in classical music history. There are also online games for kids and lesson plans for teachers.

    Classics for kids is a great website for any music teacher. This site provides activity sheets, game ideas, and recordings music. This site also has biographies of composers, which is where I generally find out more information on composers too because they are easy to read through and great for kids.

    Classics for Kids is a great way for students to learn about composers and different genres of music. There are short podcasts that students can listen to that have three questions attached to them. The podcasts are about different types of music and different composers. Each podcast plays popular music from the composer and incorporates jokes for the students to listen to. The website also includes note and rhythm games for students to practice. There are also lesson plans for teachers with links for National Standards.

It includes links to learn about various composers, listening examples, activities, games and quizzes about music. There are lesson plans also available for teachers, and a parent information link is also available. This is a great site for introducing students to the genre of classical music.

Besides the usual blog with free lesson plans and a link to her www.teacherspayteachers.com store, she also has a link to her podcast and facebook group. She includes easy to use labels to sort the blogs as well as a link to highlight her classroom design and organization. Her blogs range in topics from specific lesson plans to teacher self-care and learning styles in the music classroom. She is a Kodaly trained teacher and her blog is geared towards K-6 general music.

    Toby W. Rush provides fifty PDFs for public use on his website "Music Theory for Musicians and Normal People." He not only invites people to print the PDFs but encourages teachers to make copies and use these resources in the classroom. There are worksheets on everything from simple meter to minor scales and counterpoint. He breaks the worksheets into topics: fundamentals, diatonic harmony, development and form, chromatic harmony, and counterpoint. This a great page to keep in mind for any age group or music classroom.

    This website is the Chrome Music lab. There are activities to explore all the elements of music. Some of the activities are composition related. There are visual representations of sound as well. You need to use the Chrome browser for them to work. My students really enjoyed this site.

    Chrome Music Lab is a great resource to explore the world of music technology with students of all grade levels. Students can create melodies, rhythms, and visually see their piece come to life with eye-catching colors. My younger students can learn through the program the difference between high/low and short/long. The Kandisky program is great for even the Kindergarten level to practice shapes, sounds, and reading music left to right.

    Created by Google developers, this site contains various apps associated with different musical elements with the premise that users would simply explore. Songmaker and Kadinsky allow the creation of musical ideas while others explore rhythm chords, and how sound functions. Each app is extremely easy to use and is beneficial in any general music setting.
