"Hulu, the online aggregator of repurposed TV content and subscription video-on-demand, continued its apparent slide by failing to rank among the Top 10 U.S. online video sites in September, according to new data from comScore. Microsoft to Sell Skype Ads Overseas | ClickZ - 0 views

  •
Advertisements in Skype first appeared in March. Initial advertisers included Groupon, Universal Pictures and Visa. These ads appeared in the U.S., the U.K. and Germany. In a blog post at the time, Skype assured users its plan was to only show ads from just one brand per day in each market where advertising was sold. It also said the ads would not disrupt users' Skype experience with pop-ups or banners in the middle of calls.

42.9 Million Uniques Viewed 3.4 Billion Reddit Pages In August - SocialTimes - 0 views

  •
"How much time do you spend on Reddit?  If you're anything like the average Redditor, it's quite a bit!  Yesterday Reddit reported, via Twitter, that in August the average time spent per visit was 17:29 minutes.  The month also closed with a shipping 3.4 billion page views and 42.9 million uniques.  Impressive, eh? While the 17:29 minute figure is only a one second increase from 17:28 in July, the page views and uniques saw a significant jump.  In July Reddit reported 3.1 billion page views and 39.5 million users."

Obama speech sets 'record political moment' on Twitter - 0 views

  •
"President Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention fueled a outpouring of tweets, spiking at 52,757 tweets per minute. Twitter called it a "record political moment," adding that Obama's next two biggest spikes (43,646 and 39,002) surpassed Romney's peak at 14,239. In all, 9 million tweets about the DNC this week were sent by the conclusion of the president's speech. Of course, volume isn't everything. Obama's score on Twitter's political index rose just 2 points when we checked it after the speech. Politico reported that it dropped 4 points. And for a bit of context, the VMA's on MTV - which aired Thursday night against the DNC - attracted a record 7.9 million tweets, well above the network's record of 5.5 million from the year before."

Facebook ad rates surge 58 percent, leaves Twitter in the dust | Internet & Media - CNE... - 0 views

Last but certainly not least, Facebook's recently released News Feed targeting options are delivering significantly better CTR. Mobile ads received CTRs 14 times that of desktop ads, on average. The desktop category, which includes News Feed ads and the ads on the right-hand side, saw the lowest CTR at 0.083 percent. The mobile News Feed, by contract, saw an average CTR of 1.140 percent. How does this compare with Twitter? The smaller social network saw an average CTR of 0.266 percent. This would indicate Facebook's mobile ad CTR is four times that of Twitter's. That's impressive. Other highlights from the report include: Sponsored Stories continue to perform better than standard Facebook Ads: Analysis of 13.8 billion impressions in the first and second quarters of 2012 shows Sponsored Story ads receiving 53 percent higher CTR than standard ads. Cost per fan also saw major improvements with 39 percent savings.

The advert, which will have a two-week trial, will use a high-definition camera to scan hundreds of thousands of passers-by. It will guess their gender based on the distance between their eyes, the width of their nose, length of the jawline and shape of their cheekbones. With a built-in computer, touchscreen and sound, it will be 90 per cent accurate, its designers say. "We're not giving men and boys the choice to see the full ad on this occasion - so they get a glimpse of what it's like to have basic choices taken away," said Marie Staunton, Plan UK's chief executive.
