Stealth Wendy's Campaign Got 33,000 Twitter Followers in a Month - 0 views

  •
@GirlBehindSix to promote new burger through a "140-character game show" not directly affiliated with Wendys at first. Gave away a lot of prizes to followers. Now trying to pull those 33,000 to the actual Wendy's account, not sure how that's working so far. Interesting bc they used very little advertising, especially when compared to Kraft Mac & Cheese who only gained 3,500 followers using TV and twitter campaigns.

Why You Won't See Hard AR Anytime Soon | Valve - 0 views

  •
Eventually we'll get to SF-quality hard AR, but it'll take a while. I'd be surprised if it was sooner than five years, and it could easily be more than ten before it makes it into consumer products. That's fine; there are tons of interesting things to do and plenty of technical challenges to figure out just with soft AR. I wrote one of the first PC games with bitmapped graphics in 1982, and 30 years later we're still refining the state of the art; a few years or even a decade is just part of the maturing process for a new technology. So sit back and enjoy the show as AR grows, piece by piece, into truly seamless augmented reality over the years. It won't be a straight shot to Rainbow's End, but we'll get there - and I have no doubt that it'll be a fun ride all along the way.

The Rise of the Junkweb and Why It's Awesome or At Least Inevitable - 1 views

  •
What Matters to the Junkweb? There are probably 3 key ways one might engage the Junkweb for your own betterment: Make interesting graphics worth sharing. Make it easy to share them. Evoke an emotion. That last one is tricky. But when you do it right, it works quite well. People share emotions in the Junkweb. Oh, and I predict that the tech will adapt to better support this kind of web. It's mobile. It's fast. It's something that will fairly quickly stand a chance of replacing the Smartweb.

Why BuzzFeed's Viral Moments Might Work Perfectly on Radio | Media - Advertising Age - 0 views

  •
""As social media began to grow, it was a natural progression," Mr. Greenstein said. Late last month Sirius announced a new show, "Politics Powered by Twitter," that revolves around the politics being discussed in tweets. That show and now the BuzzFeed partnership have encouraged other social outlets to express interest in working with the company, Mr. Greenstein said. Sirius will handle all ad sales for the program, although it will debut without commercials. The companies declined to discuss terms."

Toyota, GM, Unilever Channel Big Bucks to YouTube | Digital - Advertising Age - 0 views

  •
According to a rate card distributed to ad agencies, two hot verticals -- music and pop culture -- were $62 million apiece for one-year sponsorships, a package of sports channels was $40 million, an autos package was $16 million and a mom's interest package $10 million. YouTube has since subdivided the verticals into smaller packages in categories such as "Celebrity News," "Music and Film" or "Geeks, Gadgets and Games," which cost $10 million to $20 million to sponsor. YouTube also lets advertisers exclusively sponsor a single channel for anywhere from $2 million to $4 million on an annual basis.
