App for turning iPhone pics into cash adds 10% commission - Tech News and Analysis - 0 views

  •
"The amateur iPhoneographer demographic is huge -  there are far more iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 users in the world than had already joined Foap. But the founders also wanted to keep it iPhone only. So the founding pair decided to create a greater incentive for Foap's army of iPhoneographers to get their friends to join the community too: by offering commission. Every photo license on Foap costs $10. For every one sold, the photographer gets $5, while Foap keeps $5. But now, if you invite a friend, you get 10 percent of each of their photos that are sold. Your newly invited friend the photographer still gets their $5, though - your 10 percent "commission" comes out of Foap's take."

Apple's Passbook Problem | Adweek - 0 views

  •
""I really think there is a need here. Simplicity, efficiency and fun," he said. "There is a lot of power in being able to push coupons, updates to loyalty cards, tickets and payment options right to the lock screen of a consumer's device. Geo-locating passes is an incredibly powerful feature of the Passbook platform. Nothing could be simpler than shopping at a mall and automatically seeing the passes that are relevant to what's around me: 'Oh yeah, I forgot I had that 15 percent off coupon at Bose. I might as well stop in.' " That's exactly the sort of practical perk that Passbook's early adopting brands seem to love. Online movie ticket service Fandango was a Passbook launch partner, and the company president tells Adweek that the brand's iPhone app downloads skyrocketed with the debut of Passbook. While mobile tickets were already available through the Fandango app for select theaters, Passbook simply made them easier for customers to use. When you arrive at the theater before the movie, your mobile ticket pops up on your iPhone lock screen. Swipe the icon to open the ticket in Passbook (without even having to unlock your phone), and you're good to go."

"Apparently, someone at Twitter thought it would be a good idea to plaster advertising on top of iPhone users' Twitter feeds. (Disclosure: I do not own an iPhone or an iPad, luckily, so I was spared from the #dickbar.) As depicted above, the so-called #dickbar is a strip across the top of the Twitter app's timeline showing trending topics and advertisements."

First alleged iOS 7 controller revealed in leaked image - 0 views

  •
Kotaku has obtained an image of what it claims is the first "Made For iPhone" controller. Purportedly made by Logitech, the controller looks similar to the guidance images Apple released when it detailed the new iOS 7 controller API. It features what appears to be a circular D-pad, four action buttons, and a pause key. The guidance images also called for either two or four shoulder buttons to be included, but it's difficult to see from Kotaku's blurry image if the controller has any shoulder buttons at all, let alone how many.
