And without having their phone numbers, no less. Could be dangerous. But they have to have the same app, so I imagine user adoption will be a major stifling factor here.
I like this since initiatives like this could really turn power-users into advocates within their social networks. Encouraging friends/family on Facebook to use the app and spreading adoption. derp
Neer is like Facebook Places/Foursquare for only the people you're closest with (close friends, family, etc). I think I've seen this before, but it just clicked that this is a good example of how "social" can become more relevant to people's daily lives.

What I like is the ad creative putting an enlarged 2D code front and center to underscore the option for people to use their cell phone camera to snap a picture of the code to get more information. (Or register at Jet2Beach.com.) The actual 2D code is contained in a corner of the supersized one, which also serves as the framework for a collage of images of family members cavorting on the beach. 2D codes tend to look like tiny modern art works, so why not blow them up to fill the canvas of an outdoor ad?
$30 movie rentals seem expensive, but make more sense when you take into consideration how much it costs a family to go to the theater. The $30 would be for premium movies that have recently left theaters but not on DVD yet. OR you could go to the dollar theater.
Pre-teen and even pre-school children are key drivers for adoption of the iPad and other tablet computers, and a substantial number of kids, including two in five 11 and 12 year olds, now regularly use social networks even though they're technically not allowed, according to the LMX Family study conducted in early February by Ipsos OTX.
