We were aware of POLITICAL ANIMALS via the pre-premiere buzz, including mention of it in Maureen Dowd's "State of Cool" piece, and discussed with USA the idea to create a list of America's biggest "political animals" of all time.  With Huffington Post's highly engaged community for opinion and conversation, and USA's tremendous reach, we felt this partnership would provide a great opportunity to start a dialogue about power and leadership. As we prepare to decide on the next chapter in America's future, there's a lot to be learned from those who defined our political past, so we felt that it was a unique platform from which to reflect on what it means to be a "political animal" at a time when leadership is on the minds of all Americans.

"So, instead of storing all the data and selecting which clip to play with, [we] have a system which actually generates animations on the fly, given the user input," the school's Daniel Holden told Ars Technica."

The app can determine if a stuffed animal is being hugged, squeezed, or even moved, using the smartphone's camera and flash. As the toy is compressed, so is the soft foam inside, which decreases the brightness level of photos taken using the camera's flash. And in the same way an optical mouse can track movement by comparing sequential images, the app could easily determine if a plush toy is being moved and played with, automatically triggering sound effects as a result.

Toyota UK has launched a Facebook app challenging fans to leave a 40 character rant about something that's been bugging them lately, with the best entires to be turned into music videos recorded by animated rapper Gadget and his sidekick puppet Slick, during a 72 hour social event.

The Tamagotchi is a virtual pet that many of us are familiar with. It was wildly popular in the late 90's, and is still doing well in sales. What some of us may not be so familiar with is the tardigrade, a microscopic animal with eight legs that can stand extreme weather conditions and is the only animal known to have the ability to survive in the hard vacuum of space. Combine the two and you have a Tardigotchi- a sphere that houses a tardigrade that is fed via syringe. The Tardigotchi also features a virtual pet that displays emotion.
