Welcome to the UCLA Phonetics Lab Archive. For over half a century, the UCLA Phonetics Laboratory has collected recordings of hundreds of languages from around the world, providing source materials for phonetic and phonological research, of value to scholars, speakers of the languages, and language learners alike. The materials on this site comprise audio recordings illustrating phonetic structures from over 200 languages with phonetic transcriptions, plus scans of original field notes where relevant. The archive in its current form is a self-standing website. Eventually all the data here will be incorporated into the comprehensive UCLA Digital Library where it will be maintained as a permanent resource for future generations.

The website for the official "Librarians and Bibliophiles Havana Book Fair Tour" in Cuba from Saturday 14 to Saturday 21 February 2009. It takes place during the 18th Havana International Book Fair where dozens of countries and scores of publishers exhibit their works. It's a rare opportunity for professionals in library sciences, booksellers, educators and book lovers in general to get an unprecedented look into issues of freedom of expression directly from Cuban intellectuals, writers, librarians, publishers and curators.

WordReference is opening up and offering you the ability to add a miniature version of WordReference for your website. It has much of the functionality of WordReference including most of our most popular dictionaries.

Our long term goal is to promote research relating to the acquisition of French as a second/foreign language, by providing access to a growing database of French Learner Language Oral Corpora. The contents of the database are being made freely available to the research community, in the form of digital sound files and related transcripts formatted using CHILDES software. A search facility is also provided which enables researchers to select the sound files and transcripts they wish to download from the site. The database currently contains over 4000 files (sound files, transcripts and morphosyntactically tagged transcripts). The website also aims to include an inventory of other French interlanguage corpora not available within FLLOC but held by other researchers and institutions.

Simulations in Higher Education (SHE) is a focus for these initiatives at UWE. It is part of the E-learning Development Unit, which works with colleagues across the university to help with developments in curricula and delivery that use ICT. This SHE website describes the projects, technologies and underpinning pedagogies that these initiatives draw upon, and develop.

Pachyderm is an easy-to-use multimedia authoring tool. Designed for people with little multimedia experience, Pachyderm is accessed through a web browser and is as easy to use as filling out a web form. Authors upload their own media (images, audio clips, and short video segments) and place them into pre-designed templates, which can play video and audio, link to other templates, zoom in on images, and more. Once the templates have been completed and linked together, the presentation is published and can then be downloaded and placed on the author's website or on a CD or DVD ROM. Authors may also leave their presentations on the Pachyderm server and link directly to them there. The result is an attractive, interactive Flash-based multimedia presentation.

Add a voice recorder to your web site! ListenUp can record your users' voice message, play back the recording, and then upload the recording to your web server. Then other users can listen to the voice recordings on your website. Free version limits recording to 60 seconds and displays a message the first time the applet is loaded on a computer.

Sign up to record online; messages are saved on their servers and links can be emailed. Also offers a widget to add to your website for recording.

The Michigan Corpus Linguistics team consists of researchers and students at the University of Michigan (U-M) English Language Institute (ELI). We create corpora of spoken and written academic English, provide corpus-based materials for EAP (English for Academic Purposes) teaching, and carry out research in different areas of corpus linguistics.
