La parte "open to everyone online" della petizione sarebbe più convincente se, nel post http://www.pro.europeana.eu/web/guest/protect-our-cef-funding dato come riferimento, i tre PDF d'approfondimento linkati rispettassero l'accessibilità e la fruibilità: - il migliore, quello della factsheet, offre sì una versione testo che si può leggere più o meno lineramente, copiare e dove si può fare ricerche, ma è sprovisto di navigazione interna; - la lettera collettiva a Nelly Kroes comprende anche una versione testo, ma fortemente imbordellata - la lettera di Racine è un PDF unicamente fotografico, quindi esclude i ciechi, è incopiabile, e non ci si può cercare cose. Un informatico francese che era stato coinvolto sia in Europeana sia in Gallica mi aveva spiegato che forse il più grosso ostacolo nei due progetti era l'incapacità totale di Jeanneney, allora capo della Biblioteca nazionale francese, di capire che per digitalizzare un testo, non basta farne uno scan fotografico e sbatterlo in un PDF, ma andava anche fatto il riconoscimento ottico dei caratteri per ottenere un testo vero da aggiungere allo scan per renderlo accessibile ai ciechi e fruibile da tutti. Ma vabbé, Jeanneney era il dinosauro tecnofobo che era, motivato alla digitalizzazione soltanto da un antiamericanismo becero, come si vede dalle sue dichiarazioni sulla digitalizzazione Google Books. Speravo che almeno Racine ci capisse un filino di più. Auguriamoci che il suo titolo di "Président de la fondation Europeana" lo riduca a un ruolo di mera potiche... Aggiornamento: noto adesso che la versione francese della petizione è addirittura intitolata "Pour que le patrimoine culturel européen reste accessible en ligne" - manquent pas d'air, ces frouzes...
