Great 19 minute podcast with Buffy Hamilton, Unquiet Librarian, on why libraries are great places for connected learning. This podcast produced by Connected Learning Alliance, a national initiative led by Mimi Ito and other big names on Making Learning Relevant has lessons for WLS. The podcast design itself The content, especially the emphasis on libraries (substitute WLS) as incubator hubs, making learning relevant by working from the learner's point of need, interest and project driven, etc.

Coaching, training, affective leadership are all part of Carrie Stack, M.Ed.'s site. We should look at this as a connection, for our directory, and as a competitor for WLS.
  •
Similar services to WLS without the online emphasis. Check out Carrie Stack and the Say Yes Institute web site.

3 Social Media Tips to Help Women's Careers | Next Avenue - 0 views

  •
Blog post by Kerry Hannon, November 7, 2012, Next Avenue--where grown-ups keep growing, a PBS sponsored site. Raises issues that WLS is concerned with. 3 Tips 1. Set up a free LinkedIn account. Create a winning LinkedIn profile. 2. Open a Twitter account. "Follow people or companies who interest you and ones you might want to interview for someday." 3. Share, ask, and engage. "Identify an online community of 'thought leaders' who discuss your field...

Inspiring Opportunities Newsletter | Coming of Age NYC - 0 views

In research on CoA communities, went to NYC CoA to see what they offered and ran across the most active site so far. See excerpt below for rebooting your life offered by The Transition Network, which I think is the women's group that Lisa knows. Is relevant to WLS. See book title on Reboot your life, Energize Your Career and Life by Taking a Break in excerpt below. "REBOOT YOUR LIFE - A special workshop on taking a break and making the most of it Are you feeling: Disengaged and too tired to figure out how to change that? A yearning for an adventure, or extended travel to recharge your batteries? A need for time to heal your heart and/or body? Or to get on the path to wellness? Like you need to plan for your "retired" chapter or already retired and wanting a more fulfilling life? Two of the co-authors, Rita Foley and Jaye Smith, will share important and useful insights gained from their four years of research, interviewing over 300 individuals and 50 organizations for their book, Reboot Your Life, Energize Your Career and Life by Taking a Break and from their workshops. With both discussion and fun exercises the authors will cover important topics such as : Overcoming emotional hurdles to taking time off work Turning job loss into an "unexpected sabbatical" Managing and planning for the stages of your Reboot Break Pre- retirement planning Deflecting robbers of your time What can I do next? Living a life of balance and passion Reboot Partners workshops, book and talks have been featured in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post and on Martha Stewart radio, Oprah's OWN Network, and WPIX New York."

rationale and components for WL Studio?
  •
This is phenomenal. Thank you. YES! If we begin with the components of Notice, Dream, Connect and Do, we are well on our way to a viable leadership project. What have we noticed, what do we dream, what other connections can we make, what will we do about what we noticed? I have noticed that, like the young woman on the video, many do not know where their passions lie. I have noticed that women (and men) experience horrible events in their professional lives and they have little support. I have noticed we have so many directions in which we can go, and it would be helpful for us to find a direction that suits us.

Projects | Connected Learning Research Network - 0 views

  •
List of projects in Connected Learning Research Network as of July 27, 2012 Note this Longitudinal study of Connected Learning by Ben Penuel of late elementary and middle school students in connected learning environments and the "relationship of participation to valued outcomes. These outcomes include interest development, persistence in learning, civic participation, and development of a positive sense of the future." Could these outcomes be the same for WLS Studio connected learners?

Workforce collaboration in the network era | Harold Jarche - 1 views

Premise(?) for WL Learning Studio from Harold Harche's blog, February 23, 2012 Excerpts: "Those specialized departments of the 20th century need to engage in social learning, by modelling behaviour and continuously developing next practices to adapt to changing conditions. This is the challenge to remain relevant in the 21st century workplace. Learn or die." "This isn't the Information Age, it's the Learning Age; and the quicker people get their heads around that, the better - Prof Stephen Heppell" "It boils down to the fact that in the network era, value is derived from workforce collaboration, where you are either contributing to the network, or you are no longer required."

This is ladonna coy's website. Note her offer of the social media path ebook AFTER you register. The Slideshare that she uploaded for memorable presentations brought me here; her presentation had very good points. I like her "Free Range Learning and Development in a Networked, New Media World" tagline. Think we should ask her to consider writing a blog for WLS.
