Parents need to know that this site, which supplements the TIME for Kids magazine, is a safe and wonderfully eye-opening place for kids to hang out online. Although there are versions of the TIME for Kids magazine for grade-schoolers, the site is more for tweens and up since articles give frank facts (while leaving out disturbing details) about things like political assassinations and social injustices.

"Exemplar Text Supports K-12
One of the challenges in providing students with the most significant disabilities with access to the general curriculum is finding materials that link directly to the grade level content, but are written at a level that is accessible. As part of the DLM™ project we have been building a library of companion texts that go with the exemplar texts"
"To learn about Newton's Laws of Motion, 8th grade students applied the three laws to a
sport of their choosing. Students worked independently on this project but shared their
final products with each other for feedback. OneNote was used for the assignment,
rubric, and work pages, as well as the sharing of links and student feedback. Sway was
used as the platform for the final projects, complete with text, images and video!

"Welcome to Backyard Brains
The brain is complex, but extremely fascinating. We need more people interested in studying the brain because 20% of the world will have a neurological disorder... and there are no cures! To study the brain, you typically have to be a graduate student at a major university. Not any more! Backyard Brains enables everyone to be a neuroscientist! We provide affordable neuroscience experiment kits for students of all ages to learn (hands-on) about electrophysiology. Now everyone from schoolchildren to grad students and every grade in between can experiment with similar tools used by real neuroscientists worldwide! By following a few simple steps, everyone can experience first-hand how the brain communicates with our senses, memories, hopes, and desires."
