Review of the Action Analytics Symposium, which was co-sponsored by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (29 public 2-year and 4-year institutions) and Capella Univesrity (a for-profit, online institution). The concept is "a multi-dimensional effort aimed squarely at fundamental and strategic education reform in the context of massive economic, social, and technological change... [A]ction analytics strategically uses data, statistics, predictive modeling and visualization to promote student success, achieve institutional efficiency, and demonstrate transparency."

Developed at Johns Hopkins University, but available for use by other large institutional data collections, this site explains one large-scale data repository model.

Published by Institute for the Future for the University of Phoenix Research Institute, 2011. Rather than predicting actual careers or job types, this report looks at Six Drivers of Change, and the resulting 10 Key Skills needed in the future workforce, including Virtual Collaboration.

The authors find similarities between gaming and virtual collaboration and posit that, to be successful, virtual collaboration must include "immediate feedback, clear objectives and a staged series of challenges [in order to] significantly drive participation and motivation."

Press release from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, March 18, 2010. "A new study of national college graduation data by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) reveals that far too many four-year colleges and universities graduate less than half of their Hispanic students."

This Center began as a collaboration between Columbia University Law School and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. From "What We Do," "The Center works primarily through projects in different institutional settings, such as higher education, low-wage work, criminal justice, and housing. Each of the projects brings together creative and committed researchers, practitioners, and students to address problems involving structural inequality, and to do so through examining innovation."

IKSME is a research institute that focuses on improving information access and knowledge sharing in the education sector.

Published by the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET), March 2012. This paper argues that, based on two recent studies, "job-embedded PD can be highly effective, but only when there is a sufficient infrastructure in place to support it." While this analysis seems somewhat biased (clearly written in support of NIET's own program), many of the characteristics of their program match work that KPI has done in PD.

According to this article, at present most student-related data (grades, course selection, graduation rates, etc.) is "locked-up" within colleges. In this new era of "open data" the Dept of Ed and others are calling on colleges and universities to make this data more accessible to developers -- including students in their own institutions.

Part of UD's Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education, this program offers workshops at the K-12 or post-secondary level for how instructors can integrate problem-based learning into their own classrooms. The PBL Clearinghouse, a "peer-reviewed online resource" collects PBL problems and articles. Additionally, the site offers resources including sample syllabi and projects.

OER university, a wiki,"is a virtual collaboration of like-minded institutions committed to creating flexible pathways for OER learners to gain formal academic credit." As of 11/2011, there are 15 international universities listed as "founding anchor partners," including Empire State College (SUNY) and Southern New Hampshire University in the U.S.

Wiki of the P2P (peer to peer) foundation that studies "the impact of Peer to Peer technology and thought on society." Topics include collaboration, "open" business models, "change institutions," etc.  Librarian's note: found this site while trying to learn more about cybertroc (online barter)
