For some reason, I did not find this discussion thread until now. I just published my bibliography entries in the ITEC-801 Bibliography section of Diigo. I'm guessing that everyone else in the clas...

Jonassen's CLEs - 0 views

This is an overview of Jonassen's proposed model for designing constructivist learning environments, which contains easy-to-follow bulleted points of the problems and explanations for solutions. At the very end, there are more links to other nicely done overviews of behavorism, cognitivism, and constructivism (there were more of these, which almost proves that this area of learning gets the most attention).

Instructional Sequence.pdf - 0 views

  •
This is a chapter from "Middle and High School Teaching: Methods, Standards, and Best Practices" that talks about instructional sequencing, which is part of paper three. I found the table to be very helpful. When I looked for the book on Amazon, which I often do to decide whether or not I want the rest of it, I discovered it was $121.84. But, if you look at the description, you do get a lot of 'bang for your buck"!

infed.org | Malcolm Knowles, informal adult education, self-direction and andragogy - 0 views

Malcolm Knowles is the 'father' of andragogy. This article has more to do with his biography than the definition of andragogy; however, I thought it an important article to understand the man behind the definition.

This might be the single most important website regarding end user experience for electronic media. Jakob Nielsen, as well as his co-author Raluca Budiu, have truly addressed end user issues in this website and their book, "Mobile Usability", that is right-now current! I will keep this website in my Favorites! Click on Articles for the huge list of choices regarding a whole lot of everything, including Content Strategy, Eyetracking, User Behavior, and User Testing.

Simulation and Learning - E-learning modules - 1 views

  • Simulation appears to work most effectively when it is designed to meet curricular outcomes, includes realistic and relevant content, interesting and engaging learning methods and prepares learners for working in the clinical context in terms of activities, skills and competencies (Issenberg et al, 2005).
  • The key element here is building simulation activities into learners’ progression
  • There is a consistent association between the amount and the quality of deliberate practice and performance in domains as varied as chess, music and sport (Ericsson and Charness, 1994). Deliberate practice means that there is effort involved as well as some form of feedback, whether through self assessment, from the simulator or observation by another person.
  • ...2 more annotations...
  • The absence of learner feedback is the greatest single factor for ineffective simulation training.
  • In addition, each learner is different, and some learners inevitably need longer or more frequent sessions with the simulator to achieve the same educational results as their co-learners.
  •
This is geared specifically towards health professionals, but includes interesting information about simulated activities in training.

Collage Machine: From the National Gallery of Art Website - 0 views

  •
This site is one of many on the National Gallery of Art's Education pages. The Teachers one offers lessons, slideshows and videos on art people and topics. The Kids site allows children to produce visual art online right then and there. The site's Collage Machine could substitute for Pinterest in my lesson.

Another great take on instructional sequencing (I especially like the reference to Occam's Razor), learning models, and instructional paths. Anytime that someone can say the same thing a little differently, I appreciate it and get more out of the content.

Musuems' interactive online art tools, in a doctoral dissertation for Columbia U. - 1 views

  •
Annotation: This is Christine S. Mulligan's Doctoral Dissertation, in which she discusses museums' online activities that interact with young people. Her interest is the educational purpose and design of online art-making. Although her focus is wholly on online art activities sponsored by museums, I feel her findings could apply to apps art activities for school learning. I found the National Gallery of Art interactive tools, as well as other musuem's online activities, through Mulligan.
