Education: Interactive Whiteboards in Schools (Newsweek) - 0 views

Teachers are conditioned to tolerate a lot of abuse-it's a professional hazard-but what faculty members at Sir G. E. Cartier Elementary School in London, Ontario, went through last spring seems beyond the call of duty: a few of them agreed to be duct-taped to a gym wall while students hit them in the face with pies. Teachers get glimpse of future : - 0 views

Along with the Activboard, the district can get an Activote and Activexpression. These are tools that the students can use to take quizzes and tests. They can select an answer to a multiple choice question, answer true/false and yes/no questions and write answers and then send them to the screen. Once the students answer the question, the teacher can see right away how many students got it right and exactly who got it right and wrong. The students' names can be written on the board or they can be assigned a number so teachers can identify their responses. Also, teachers can take the scores from the quiz or test and drop them into their grade book.

But too large a percentage of them aren't receiving adequate training in the areas that matter most: instructional software, technology integration, learning outcomes management, and designing individual lesson plans. This according to a study released last week by the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers, which also described access to classroom technology as "woefully inadequate" in most schools.
