I found this blog post/article about 17 "awesome" educational Chrome extensions. The blog is created by and geared towards teachers. The Chrome extensions listed seem to be really useful, especially "Note Everywhere", which allows users to make notes on webpages that will be saved on that webpage for the next visit.

I really found this interesting how it has all of these guides to different technology based things. This will definitely help other teachers help their students with this technology based subjects needed.

Rick Brennan found interactive games help teach his class history more than a regular lesson. Students seem more involved and want to learn. Games seem to be the key to helping younger students stay active in their education. This blog could help other teachers come up with ideas for their classrooms.

I think that it is a good idea to use interactive games to keep younger students active in the class. Without the interactive games it will be easier for students to fall behind and become less interested in the material.

There are certain aspects when integrating technology and how teachers do not use it correctly. Technology should not be used to take away from the teachers lesson, but to help it. It also should not be used for students during their free time as entertainment. It should not be used as a subject of its own, but should be able to correlate with all subjects. Some teachers use it as a pencil, which is extremely expensive. It definitely should not be used as the answer to getting students involved in the lesson. Teachers need to form the correct habit when using technology.

Nearly 100% of all Hastings Elementary students have learned how to create basic computer codes. This was accomplished by exposing K-4 graders to something called "block coding" which is where students are given a set of blocks that represent commands. They use these blogs to "debug" and "create" a program. The article also outlines technology literacy.

This article basically discusses what technology integration is. Then it goes into why it is important. One of the things discussed is that kids today are growing up in a strong technology based world and it is important for them not to only learn the basics but what is needed for everyday life 

It is a true balancing act. Because of the workforce skills students will need when they graduate the push is on to have them use technology often and well. Unfortunately, it takes skill to integrate technology in the most appropriate manner and to its best advantage.

The important thing delighting education technology leaders, Obama made the announcement about delivering high-speed broadband to 15,000 schools. This would result in 20 million students with new digital learning opportunities. Obama talked about how it requires everything from more challenging curricula and more demanding parents to better support for teachers and new ways to measure how well our kids think, not how well they can fill in a bubble on a test.

This is an excellent post that discusses the pros and cons of digital reading versus paperback reading. You may want to read up and think about how have your students optimize their digital reading if they will be reading off of ipads instead of paperback books.

Depicted in the documentary "If You Build It', it shows 10 high school teens in Bertie County helping their local community make a difference and building a farmers market. Instead of sitting in desks and learning in a classroom all day, they took to the land and began to build. They incorporated hands-on shop lessons and used technology to map out the design of the farmers market. They were instructed to think outside of  the box which made their experience all the more valuable.

In this article Education Secretary Arne Duncan highlights how the achievement gaps within our schools can be closed by the increase investment in technology use in all classrooms. He states that 2/3 of teachers wish they had more technology in the classrooms which is being limited due a high percentage of schools not having adequate bandwidth or access to high-speed internet.
