5 pros and cons of social media in the classroom - 0 views

  •
I just actually thought this was a short pretty interesting read, it gives you both sides of the story
  •
I thought this was a useful resource for the introduction of using social media in the classroom being straight forward with the pros and cons. I think this resource would be useful if it were linked with a website that explained how to combat the cons that are pointed out in this article. For example, how can we take the cyber bullying issue and turn it into a learning opportunity in the classroom. I believe this resource should be used to help teachers decide if they want to utilize social media in the classroom. I am aware of multiple resources that point out the pros and cons in social media.
  •
This was very short, sweet and to the point. It got the points across fairly simply. It would be a good link for an RWLD or something along those lines. A great supplemental read that doesn't take too long to get through and understand.

This is a great website for 21st Century Learning. There is a large possibility in the future the students are going to be getting the news and updates about their society through online news sources. This is a great way to start the students on reading the news and educating them about the world. We can teach them strategies on how to filter through news in the online environment. I also like this website is kid friendly language.

10 Tools To Teach Kids The Basics Of Programming - 1 views

  •
I am sharing an educational resource many should look into. I think in todays every growing technology world, it is a good idea for all students to get the basics of programming. I like this 10 tools you can use to support yourself in teaching children the basics of programming. If I find this is interesting to students, I will use more of these tools.
  •
They talked about this at ITEC. I think that it is really important for students to learn about programming because there are so many things that are being digitized. As a whole, we all are doing a lot of interacting in virtual environments. If students learn how to program, they won't just have an online presence, they will be able to CREATE an online presence for themselves. I want to become more familiar with programming myself.

This is a great resource to use in educating yourself on information about digital storytelling in the classroom. You can use this to learn information about it and why it should or should not be used in the classroom. It is a good idea to know the benefits and downsides to any resource we are using in the classroom

The two extra resources I found were in correlation to my final topic I am writing about in this class, digital storytelling! If you have any resources related this topic, please share!

Websites like this that have a list of other places to go make it easy to keep your resources organized and who doesn't love free online resources!
  •
This website is a lot like the one Tabatha posted, I like that there are websites out there that can give a teacher multiple resources on just one page, it takes the search out of teaching, which is really appreciated from a busy teacher. This is mainly for teacher use, but students benefit.

I feel like people are often so worried about integrating technology into the classroom that they often forget about how this is going to affect classroom management. As we implement technology into the classroom we are going to have to change other aspects of our classroom, and classroom management is going to be one of them. Great resource!

I LOVE lesson cast, it offers great support for all teachers. You can practically find anything you are looking for. This is mainly for teacher use but students benefit from it based on the quality of lessons teachers are giving them.

I have never heard of LessonCast until your post. I looked around the website and I plan on adding into my personal diijp library because it seems like an awesome resource. I like how it has lessons that are already aligned with certain standards.

This makes it so much easier to find a quick video for you class without having to sort through irrelevant videos! Plus you can always be sure its appropriate as well!
  •
I agree with this because I think it is important for educators to use videos now a days. This is extra important when it comes to all kids and it saves educators from getting into awkward situations. Students and Teachers can use this because it is just an appropriate way of streaming videos. I really haven't seen anything like this.
  •
This resource is very similar to the TeachingChannel. I have used that a couple of times whether that be to use for videos I would show students, or for my own personal use. I love that these are videos by other teachers. This really gives you the sense of what is happening in actual classrooms.
  •
While I appreciate having access to YouTube and will always prefer the ability to find videos on about anything I'm looking for, YouTube is not always appropriate. When you want to safe guard students from inappropriate material or advertisements you can't see coming this is a wonderful resources, similar to TeacherTube. SchoolTube is definitely growing and should be remembered as a place to find video resources for both teachers and students.

I liked this website, I agree with the fact that students are learning better via computer/technology. This website gives a good synopsis of helpful websites for teachers to use in their classroom, it basically gives them ideas and different ways to incorporate the technology in the classroom. I have found many teachers help teachers with technology websites throughout, and most of them have been mainly for teacher use.
  •
This is a great one shop stop for teachers! I would definitely use it as a starting point for many of my classroom activities to spice things up and expose my students to a variety of learning methods. I think it focuses more on what teachers need to do but its great for students to learn with.
  •
Wow, what a collection! All types of links including blogs, educational sites, apps, databases, and activities. This is a great place to visit when looking for ideas. Many subjects are included. A teacher could start here and spend lots of time expanding to other sites!

I have never heard of this website prior to this link. I think it is great for teacher and students because of the collaboration feature. I would definitely use this as a shared experience with my future students!
  •
Mindmeister is a great resource for students! Graphic organizers are a powerful tool to help organize thinking. Mindmeister's ability to bring collaboration into the mix just makes it better, as well as being able to present. Works on multiple types of devices too, so good for everyone!
  •
I really like this software! When I think of Social Bookmarking I want to use it to help me find different tools that will benefit me in my classroom. I can think of a time where I am going to want a nice mind mapping software that you can collaborate with, and I know I will be able to come and look at this resource. I agree that this software could be used very effectively, especially because it does have the collaboration tool. I believe this tool could be used both for the teacher and also the student. I could see how easily I could use this website in my life, both when trying to explain things and also in group work. I am aware of different concept maps you can create online, but I believe this one looks user friendly and I would like to explore it even more!

Free Digital Storytelling Tools For Teachers and Students - eLearning Industry - 0 views

  •
Here is a list of different digital storytelling tools that I would like to research at a later date. I have the common ones I go to, but I would like to see which different elements can be taken advantage of, when not using a tool I typically do! If you have any experience with these tools, please comment!

I like this website for my future instruction. I would definitely use it to enhance students message meaning. I have heard of similar websites and would like to compare them. I storytelling is more for students rather than teachers but can be used interchangeably
