Rethinking school design for new learning experiences - 3 views

  •
This site is from a group of architects - Fielding Nair International - that have worked redesigning schools and learning spaces in different parts of the world. Many times we dream about a new type of education ... but the school physical space is not designed for those changes. I recommend to have a look at the many cases they publish in their site (it has been very inspiring for me).

Your Own Technology Survey (YOTS) - 0 views

  •
If you are thinking about moving to a 1:1 computing strategy or are considering Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) or Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategies then you need to know what technology your pupils have access to. The Your Own Technology Survey (YOTS) is a free tool to help schools and researchers better understand the digital technology available to their students at home, whether they are willing, able and allowed to bring it to school on a regular basis, and how that technology might be utilized to enhance educational outcomes.

ICT READINESS IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN GRENADA - 1 views

It is always good to know that you can find out information about your country that you did not know exist. The information gathered here I would use to see if the Government is on track with what they say they would do with regards to ICT in the country.

Thank you for this site, I used it many years ago and had forgotten what a great resource for ESL students!
  •
Hi nice web site I'll check it out. Thanks.
  •
As a teacher of 5-6 year old ESL learners in a bilingual school, I find this website really useful for activities, songs, games etc for teaching English in a fun way. It is very interractive and child friendsly. Children can explore activities alone or it can be used as part of a teaching session. They can also leave their own comments about activities they liked. I think someone has already mentioned it below but I love it so much I had to post again so everyone can see. Highly recommended for any teachers of young learners, whether these kids are second language learners or not.

  •
The Kidsmart website has been written by Childnet International, a non-profit organisation working to help make the internet a great place for children. Resources specially produced for the website are the result of a wide consultation with officials from the Department for Education & Skills (DfES) and British Educational Communications & Technology Agency (BECTA), as well as other charities, police liaison officers, school teachers, Local Education Authorities (LEA), ICT co-ordinators, and parents and pupils themselves.

Educational Technology Is Making Achievement Gaps Even Bigger - 2 views

  •
"The very tool designed to level the playing field is, in fact, un-leveling it," they wrote in a 2012 book based on their Philadelphia library study. With the spread of educational technology, they predicted, "the not-so-small disparities in skills for children of affluence and children of poverty are about to get even larger."

I have been reading the manual of this designing game. It's so intersting!
  •
Thanks joselociruelo. I tried a similar approach two years ago with high school adolescents when by chance I discovered Sheldon's book: 'The Multiplayer Classroom: Designing Coursework as a Game' (2011) http://goo.gl/7NBlhj . Results then were not as expected, maybe because of my students profile, maybe because of my personal adaptation. Having discovered Classcraft, I'll see if the graphic environment and mechanics fills the gap I couldn't make attractive enough to cover with my own improvised adaptations through PowerPoint slides.

Thank you for sharing. Games can be a really motivating source to engage students in class. It is a really interesting topic!

Search for Quizzes - Quizizz - 0 views

  •
This is a tool I used to play in the classroom, there are thousands of quizes created but the best of all it's that i can create my own, even recycling other's questions. It is a nice way to promote competition among students, and to motivate them to seld evaluate their knowledge.
  •
I learned about this during the shut down. I created some times table quizzes and it was great because you can ask questions in a variety of ways. Audio Questions, pictures or written. Great tool, and the self marking and statistics provided are very helpful.
