Becta. (2008). Harnessing Technology Review 2008: The role of technology and its impact on education. Coventry, UK: Becta. Reviews the role of technology in the UK and summarises the approach of primary and secondary schools and colleges. In all three sectors, the review reflects the same kinds of opportunities, attitudes and barriers that we found represented in our UNESCO survey of primary schools around the world. This data shows the range of different stages of maturity of ICT use between primary schools within one country with a unified system of state education. The range will be even broader when private education is included. Some countries will not yet have had the amount of government investment in ICT infrastructure for schools that the UK had by 2008, others will by now be well ahead of this. However, the issues are universal.

Futurelab at NFER is (registered charity number 313392) is committed to developing creative and innovative approaches to education, teaching and learning. We achieve this through a mixture of research, workshops, CPD, training, courses, inset days, events, school development (through our enquiring schools programme), and resources across the UK and internationally.

The Kidsmart website has been written by Childnet International, a non-profit organisation working to help make the internet a great place for children. Resources specially produced for the website are the result of a wide consultation with officials from the Department for Education & Skills (DfES) and British Educational Communications & Technology Agency (BECTA), as well as other charities, police liaison officers, school teachers, Local Education Authorities (LEA), ICT co-ordinators, and parents and pupils themselves.

Great resources here for a variety of curricular subjects. Many are free on becoming a member and more on subscription.

We use this program at school and it covers all aspects of the APP and allows children to answer questions dependent upon the level they are working at.

A collection of web links and PDFs about e-readiness in various countries across the world. Most seem to be at least 5 years old, but have some background interest.

Science across the World brings an international dimension to science education in schools and colleges. Students gain a global perspective on scientific issues related to their personal lives, their impacts on the environment and the varying cultural impacts of science on people in different countries.
