Here is a post to inform you of two conferences that will take place at the end of November and beginning of December, one in London, one in Paris. Both are organised by the Wikimedia Foundation in partnership with arts institutions who will be presenting and discussing their experiences on knowledge sharing and partnerships with Wikimedia in that regard.
As structured organisations with a deep sense of hierarchy and copyright protection of their pieces and collections, arts organisations tend to present themselves as essentially resisting these notions, although avid readers of Museum 2.0, Museum 3.0, and French speaking readers of Mixeum are fully aware that the picture of museums today on these issues is a fragmented one.
The first few years of social media brought new approaches to audience engagement, emphasising knowledge sharing through open platforms. As organisations explored the potential of social media, they focused on the impact this would have on their internal practices. Today there is growing emphasis on how these seemingly democratic forms of communication can support and develop culturally diverse audiences.
"Join us March 22-23, 2011 for the next edition of the popular Museums & Mobile online conference series. Meet others working on mobile interpretation and applications. Interact with colleagues from your desktop. Learn what's working and what's not. Stroll the Virtual Expo for what's new. Walk away with knowledge you can put to use immediately."
Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, Copenhagen: Conference:
The role of the art museum has changed drastically during the past decades. So has the role of contemporary art within the art museum. Once institutions for preserving and producing knowledge for eternity, museums increasingly become arenas for experience and events of the moment.

"Digital Strategies for Heritage (DISH) is a bi-annual international conference on digital heritage and the strategies that heritage institutions can follow. Triggered by changes in society, heritage organisations face many challenges and need to make strategic decisions about their activities and services. The key motivators for the conference are inspiration, knowledge, skills and networking."
The second annual Nonprofit Social Network Benchmark Report, a joint project of Common Knowledge, thePort, and NTEN, has hard data and insights on the trends surrounding social networking technology as part of nonprofit organizations' marketing, communications, fundraising, and program services.
Das wär vielleicht interessant für Nathalie Unternährer, und das Museum Nidwalden?
"This award-winning website is a living history of Brighton and Hove. Through the site, people share their memories, photos, knowledge and opinions about the city - as it is today and as it was in the past. There are over 10,000 pages to explore and it's very easy to add your own. Enjoy!"
hi Bettina, solange wir noch nicht wissen, wie wir Links verwalten, wäre es vielleicht geschickt, dass in die Gruppe zu posten, genauso wie die Frau Kamke das gemacht hat.
Gruss, Axel
Online community and social media are hot areas for business these days, as companies recognize the Internet's potential to deepen customer relationships, share knowledge and strengthen teams. In the nonprofit sector, relationships have always been the key currency:
