Our students know that divorce is part of life, yet it is not a part of their history courses, it is rarely, if ever mentioned. Divorce has a history all of it's own, and many, many American's lives were shaped by it. In the early 1900s, the ability to obtain a legal divorce was difficult and in some instances, required relocation to a jurisdiction that offered liberal divorce laws. Although Las Vegas, Nevada might be known for quick marriages, it was in Reno, Nevada that legal divorces were available to residents who there for only six weeks. This online exhibit organized by Special Collections at the University of Nevada, Reno, Libraries, presents documents from the city's heyday as the divorce capital of the United States.

Studies in Scarlet presents the images of over 420 separately published trial narratives from the Harvard Law School Library's extensive trial collections.

You'll need to be able to read German and Classical Latin, but once those minor hurdles are overcome this is a rich collection of primary sources on early German history. I only had a brief peek but it seems to focus on ancient & medieval Germany. I guess they're written in Latin as it was the lingua franca of Europe at the time. They're organised into books with chapters and indices so it's unlikely they were written in Roman times (or at least it seems so to me).

Actually, the MGH is a collection of sources mainly for medieval Germany (of course including areas that are not German today), initially started with the intent to create a complete edited version of sources for the middle ages. They are in fact organised by type, like legal documents, letters, chronicles, etc., whereas chronicles are also organised by author. Has gazillions of articles from journals and other places in the form of downloadable pdfs. Very useful site for historical research and of course looks perfectly legal...

Mainly focussed on legal issues surrounding civil rights however it seems to have some information on historic civil rights decisions.

Has detailed records of US Supreme Court decisions since 1950.

How cool is this? A (hopefully legal...) collection of free documentaries. There are 61 full-length history documentaries at the moment including 'Fog of War', a documentary about the Kennedy administration.

The Digital Military Newspaper Library is a pilot project to house, organize and preserve contemporary and historic military newspapers and periodicals. These newspapers represent Naval and Air Force bases from many geographical regions around the state of Florida and will include Kennedy Space Center, a submarine base at King's Bay Georgia, the Panama Canal Zone, and two newspapers in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
