Stoa | Welcome to the Suda On Line (SOL) - 0 views

"The Suda is a massive 10th century Byzantine Greek historical encyclopedia of the ancient Mediterranean world, derived from the scholia to critical editions of canonical works and from compilations by yet earlier authors." There are some English texts in there too. Should be stuff on the Crusades.

Character Strengths and Virtues (book) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The authors of the CSV mention the importance and power of strong, clear principles to any person The Character Strengths and Virtues (CSV) handbook of human strengths and virtues, by Christopher Peterson and Martin Seligman, represents the first attempt on the part of the research community to identify and classify the positive psychological traits of human beings.[1] In the same way that the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders is used to assess and facilitate research on mental disorders, the CSV is intended to provide a theoretical framework to assist in developing practical applications for positive psychology.[1] The CSV identifies six classes of virtue (i.e. "core virtues"), made up of twenty-four measurable character strengths. Ancient History Encyclopedia - 2 views

Seems to give thorough and accurate definitions of terms related to Classical history. Seems to be neglecting the reality that Asia had Ancient History too, but that's a minor oversight. Only a couple of billion people lived there anyway... Would be great for preliminary student research and definitions.

This site doesn't contain primary sources, but might be useful for research into philosophers or the history of ideas. Might also help students with new terms they encounter in their study.

The Science Fiction Gateway - 3 views

'Containing works by the classic SF pulp writers of the Golden Age right through to modern award-winning authors, the SF Gateway is the largest library of digital Science Fiction and Fantasy ever assembled. With news, opinions, community features and forums, and links to the ultimate SF authority, The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction, the site should quickly become the natural home on the net for anyone with an interest in classic SFF. All new history is revisionist history. This only gets dicey with the Holocaust since Survivors use the term "revisionist" for deniers or justifiers of the Holocaust.
