Design your own activity for a class, club, or library program. First, create a diigo group and add least two activities in the group's forum. Be sure to provide examples or models to get the group started. Post the URL so others can explore. For example, a movie club might take notes on their favorite movie at IMDB or a science class might annotate biographies of Nobel Prize winners. For beginning activities, it's helpful to direct users to specific websites such as National Geographic or NPR.
Please visit my Group "Documentary Film Festival" and request an invitation.
Then visit either imdb.com or another website of your choice and bookmark your favorite three documentary films. Be sure to add a description of the film and send it to the group.
Next, visit at least two bookmarked pages of other group members and highlight a section of the page. Add a sticky note somewhere on the page that indicates whether you have already seen the film and agree that it should be a favorite, or that the bookmark has encouraged you to see the film in the near future.
Please visit my Group "Documentary Film Festival" and request an invitation.
Visit a website or blog about documentary films OTHER THAN imdb.com and bookmark a review of a documentary. Then go to a library catalog and locate either a LoC or Dewey call number. Put a sticky note on the review that indicates one or both call numbers to assist others with locating a copy of the film at their local library.
Your task is to go to http://makezine.com/ and pick a maker project that you find interesting and then share it with the group. Tell us why this interests you and if you would consider creating a library program around this project.
Please write a small description so others can quickly understand the project.
The next task is to go to either Youtube.com or Vimeo.com and do a search on Maker Projects, Makers or Hacker Spaces and share with the group something someone else has made that amazes you or a Maker Space they have created. Again share you bookmark and write a small description and add a sticky note to the video.
Check out the link I found where a maker in Detroit has built their own circus. It is called the Theatre Bizarre.

Share your experiences and other pertinent links with the group. 5. Happy Jamming!
My Groovy Group is all about making connections with fiction books. This is a popular activity at my school right now as many teachers are having kids connect their fiction story with a non-fiction book. The outcome they hope to achieve is raising students ISTEP Scores in non-fiction comprehension.
My activities are: #1 Tie story elements to non-fiction sources, make a list of people, places, things, etc and explore... #2 Connect the book to the author, find out what inspired the author to write the book...
If you'd like to join just ask! I really just want to see how that feature works in Diigo, sorry to add the extra step for you....
I've designed my group around the idea for an "advanced" computer users class that could be taught at library. This class could be held online or in a computer lab, students would have to complete the assignments to prove they are not just able to get online and click on links, but to show they are beginning to understand the architecture, uses of, and opportunities present on the Internet to express creativity.
The group is open to all, try to not to post the same same content as someone else.
I imagine that this group could meet at a public library. Although puppets may seem like a kid thing, I know many older people are interested in puppet making and puppet shows. I for one am super excited about the new Muppet movie! I would hope that this group could attract children as well as young adults and adults. Including amateur and professional puppeteers in the area. The program could be used as a way to mentor to children through a fun activity.
Think you know all the versions of your favorite song? Use allmusic to find out! Do a song search for a personal favorite, and see who else has performed it - you just might find a new favorite!
The group is for a high school social studies class that has current events each week. I have a teacher whose students are always in on Friday morning printing off articles to turn in. The students do not put much thought into these articles and I thought this would be a good way to get the students more engaged in the assignment.
The assignment is to find a current event (not celebrity, entertainment, or sports) and annotate the article. Share that article with the group and add questions that help the class relate to the article.
Please post links to board games that you think are designed well and make learning fun. A good website to find information about games is boardgamegeek.com.
It must be because I've been experimenting more in the kitchen lately so I've got the culinary arts on the brain. In the group, there are two assignments and links to a few of my favorite recipe websites to get students started. Hope you enjoy!
Hi! For my group, I made a website that the Teen Advisory Board could use. My activities are looking for ideas for our monthly craft programs and suggesting book discussion titles. Here it is:
I made a group called Sustainable Lifestyles. http://groups.diigo.com/group/sustainable-lifestyles It could be used in a classroom or club to share ideas on ways to reduce an individual's or society's use of the Earth's natural resources.
There are two activities: 1. Share a link to a website or blog that shows how an individual can reduce their carbon footprint. 2.Then share a book or documentary that promotes sustainable living.
There are two tasks: 1. Visit and provide links with notes to at least three websites that you could use to help determine what kinds of graphic novels are best for your library. 2. Visit the Wikipedia Award Winning Graphic Novels page and click through to several award lists and informational resources. Provide annotated links for lists that could help you build a good graphic novel collection.
This is a place for school librarians to share thoughts and ideas. The first three topics I have posted are: Book Talks, Library Lessons, and Encouraging Recreational Reading. School librarians have the opportunity to post sites they have found on any of the three topics or add their own. This is a way for others to share what they have found. The site is set to public, so you shouldn't have to join.
When I was job searching prior to landing my current job in April, I maintained a blog on the job search process so creating a group on this topic seemed like a natural fit for me. The two activities that I posted have their own forum, and I also shared the links I used as examples in each forum.
First, I want people in this group to share websites with job postings that they have found helpful in the job search process.
Second, I want people in this group to share websites that offer career related advice and resources. This could be anything from interviewing to resumes to cover letters.
Please visit my Group "Documentary Film Festival" and request an invitation.

Find examples of good research sites and bad ones, tag and bookmark, and then post the annotated links under the appropriate sections.
