Groovy Groups Assignment Fall 2011 - 69 views

I made a group called Sustainable Lifestyles. http://groups.diigo.com/group/sustainable-lifestyles
It could be used in a classroom or club to share ideas on ways to reduce an individual's or society's use of the Earth's natural resources.
There are two activities:
1. Share a link to a website or blog that shows how an individual can reduce their carbon footprint.
2.Then share a book or documentary that promotes sustainable living.
Engaging Experiments Assignment Fall 2011 - 67 views

I focused on interior design as my theme. My bookmarks can be found under Experiments. http://www.diigo.com/list/ronlmill/experiments
I enjoy the ability to 'research, share, and collaborate' with Diigo. Adding bookmarks and annotations helps me remember different sights I am interested in. I usually end up with notes in my pocket at the end of the day with book titles and websites mixed in with my to-do list. Diigo could help me streamline things. The Diigolet on my computer's toolbar is handy. I did have some problems getting my annotations to show up. Overall, it seems to be a useful tool.
Powerful Poems Assignment Fall 2011 - 90 views

I selected a poem called "Thanks" by W.S. Merwin.
http://diigo.com/0lckk
He has served as a Poetry Consultant to the Library of Congress. In 2010, he was appointed the Library of Congress's Poet Laureate Consultant.
His poetry appeals to me because he is an environmentalist. The following statement by him really sums of his beliefs about the human connection to nature. "When we destroy the so-called 'natural' world around us we're simply destroying ourselves. And I think it's irreversible."

I really enjoyed looking at Groups made my others in the class. It gives you a good idea of what their interests are personally and professionally. I think this really reflects where Diigo can be useful. It is a great way to gain insight into other users.
