By Mike Rose, The New Press: 2012. In this book, Rose looks specifically at the non-traditional students of community colleges, what their needs are, and how community colleges might serve them better. Rose is a popular education writer who frequently writes on basic skills and remediation.

On Faculty Inquiry Network. This page links to an article written by Katie Hern and Myra Snell for RP Group's statewide newsletter, Perspectives. The article, Exponential Attrition and the Promise of Acceleration, June 2010, argues that attrition can be guaranteed in long developmental sequences and presents evidence that one semester, open-access courses are a way to increase student completion rates in college-level English and math.

A program of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, Statway focuses on helping community college students learn basic skills in statistics, data analysis, and quantitative reasoning as part of a one-year pathway. The ultimate goal of this pathway is preparation for college-level statistics. This home page to Statway also includes links to the project blog (called Pathways Connection) and to the project's mailing list. There are 19 community colleges affiliated with this project.

Founded in 1880, today the Conference on Basic Writing (CBW) is a special interest group of the Conference on College Communications and Composition (CCCC). The CBW's mission "is to create a network of basic writing professionals."
