In brief, the study shows that yes online teaching is time consuming but NOT because of the technology involved but because it is a great time investment to interact with all students.
Again brings me back to my point that YES online teaching helps to 'individualize/personalize' the student learning process. Therefore, requires greater inputs and personalize mentoring than a traditional classroom engagement.

The article is published by the US department of education (2009). The principal results highlighted that classes with an online component (100% online or blended) on average had stronger student learning outcomes than classes with only face-to-face instruction (N= 51, Hedges' g= +0.24, p < .001).
