The satire for Gogol is that he is constantly criticized for his overcoat and how ugly it is, but in fact the clerks who make fun of gogol's coat are cruel. This is a story about the unjust cruelty our society has developed into. When Gogol loses his new overcoat and decides to make it his personal mission to talk to authority to retrieve it properly, the general laughs in his face and merely scowls at Gogol, scaring him to faint. As time goes on Gogol falls ill and eventually passes away. After his death Gogol's ghost is seen throughout the city taking revenge on those who had done wrong to him, especially the General.

If i were to come up with a collective theme for all the works we have ready, i'd say that it would be along the lines of the unexpectedness of the universe and how we really have no say in our fate as individuals. This is evident through the majority of the works we've read in one way or another. More obvious examples would be The Open Boat, Metamorphosis, and No Exit. This theme relates to The Time you have in Jellybeans, because it speaks about how you are unsure of what life might throw at your way so you minus well take advantage of the amount of time that you have.

As young adults we are continuously trying to prove our maturity to our elders. Although we always find ourselves slipping up, or making mistakes. I think as ignorant teenagers we forget from time to time that our brain isn't in fact fully developed. After watching the teenage brain it reminds me that the actions we do, really do affect us long term. The teenage brain relates to EQ, because as young adults our emotional part of our brain isn't quite developed to its full extent.

    1. My favorite work that we read this year was metamorphosis, because i really enjoyed the theme that talks about the random cruelty of the universe

    2. The most meaningful assignment that we were assigned this year was learning about emotional intelligence, because i believe EQ is something too many people don't consider and look past

3.What i learned from doing poetry such as "I Am From" was how much pride i have in my roots, that i had forgotten through the years

4.While doing the five paragraph essay, i learned how to write a five paragraph in depth essay in a concise way

    5. i became a writer, because in my past years in high school i had never really been challenged to expand on my writing potential, but throughout this course i was countlessly challenged to reach my potential

    6. i need to work on my ability to let go of my ego, and allow my conscience to take hold of my writing

Eric Stone represents Lennie for me. Stone is like Lennie, because he struggles to comprehend is thoughts and process his words, and when he gets upset he has a hard time controlling his physical anger and underestimates his strength. Many times i find myself having to talk to him so he calms down.

I have floated my thoughts from dusk to dawn on this ambiguous planet.
For too long i have watched my brothers and sisters abolish one a-nothers equality.
As angels have descended down from Afrihdidiys immortal love.
Us men ascend from the inner depth of Hatys barren blood.
The nights when stars glimmers life into ones self.
Rape, war, genocide, and mistreating of ones soul, glows only our true light.
For simply the connections we build, and the laughs we share make it all worth it.-TENZIN.CRANE

Stephen Crane's world view is that no matter how close you get to success, you can always fail. This quote relates to the oiler because, the oiler was the strongest swimmer out of all four men and he was the first to reach the shore, but he was the only one to die.

He obviously wasn't happy with his work situation or he wouldn't have quit. So i respect him for having the guts to stand up to his manager who he doesn't like. His motives for quitting was to impress the three girls who came through his line, accept by the time he said "i quit" they had already left the store and didn't hear him. I think he regretted the decision after he went outside and the girls had left, because he makes it obvious that he was upset at the fact that the girls didn't even acknowledge him, and now he doesn't have a job.
