This photograph is an example of using color to provide emphasis, that is only the tiger is left with color in the image to allow the audience to focus on the tiger.
"Adding emphasis to
your writing will help readers see your main
ideas both within sentences as well as with
in the entire essay. Em

be achieved through design as well as thr

sentence."
According to J. David Bolter and Richard A. Grusin their theory on the topic is the characteristics of new media and its continuous remediating media outlets such as television, radio, journalism and other old media.
Remediation also spreads out and takes two different forms to explain it, such as immediacy and hypermediacy in its media form."
This website introduced me to several different tools that can help a web designer choose the proper typography for their website. I found these tools to be very interesting, innovative and useful. I would encourage anyone interested in web design to take a look at these tools as they could provide very interesting insights in the future.
This website provides a great summary of the book as well as an explanation of the ideas and theories within the book. It really helped me understand the idea of remediation and its importance in our world.
I really like this resource because it goes beyond the what abstract is, might, or can be and delves into the actual processes involved in various abstract works. It provides a different angle to the topic. (Week 9, 11/30)
This website gave a really good example of immediacy, hypermediacy, and remediation. It was confusing for me to read about the three terms. Seeing the example provided on this website helped me to better understand the three.
This resource is sort of an aggregate of several resources. Each goes into and provides different perspectives of how typography can and is used. There is a lot of variance to each and I like all of the differentiation. (Week 11, 12/1)
While old, I like this resource for two reasons. It gives a snapshot of a problem that we are able to use and relate to today. We are able to see the sort of things they were thinking and how we have evolved or regressed. I also like how it is not just talking about the digital divide, but actually going in to "Where We Are" (or were in 2002). (12/10 Week 14)
""We have entered the knowledge society and everyone must have access to participate. The internet is the most powerful potential source of enlightenment ever created. Governments must regard it as basic infrastructure, just like roads, waste and water." Dr Hamadoun Toure, Secretary-General, International Telecommunication Union"
This website shows off some of the best examples of how typography can be used in web design. My favorite is the Evenglide Showroom image. I love the clean look of the type and the way it fits in perfectly with the image. The text does not take away anything from the image which is a difficult thing to accomplish. I have seen typography detract from images in the past, but this is a wonderful example of it adding to an image.
