"I want you!" Uncle Sam is a great example of a symbolic association, whether viewers see him as a symbol of patriotism or propaganda, he is definitely associated with America as a popular rhetorical device. This might be what I choose to use for my rhetorical design assignment this week...hmm...

This website provides information on the elements of design, including texture, and how important it can be to interior design, which I find interesting. It is truly incredible how much these elements can influence our daily lives outside of digital media.

This website has a short and sweet explanation for all of the elements and principles of design, which I feel like will come in handy later on when/if I need to quickly review some basic differences between the few of them. This page specifically focuses on the importance of value.

This image shows how line thickness and darkness can create depth in a two dimensional piece of art and make it appear to be three-dimensional. Looking at real world applications of how lines can be used really helps me understand that material more.

Not only does this article help us stay informed about the events that are taking place in Syria, but it also demonstrates that the access to the Internet really is more than turning on a computer. A vast network is necessary to keep connected to the area and when this network becomes interrupted it can cause an entire city, even some of the biggest, to lose their connection to the online world.

While reading the first chapter I found it difficult to wrap my head around all of the ideas surrounding raster versus vector images. However, this video gave me a deeper understanding of the important differences between the two and cleared up my confusion.
