Activities for Students Centers Grades K-5. Activities compiled by the Florida Center for Reading Research include objectives, materials list, and step-by-step instructions.

This is a great resource for creating centers and improving reading instruction. Although this is not an interactive website, it is very user friendly. The website can be searched by grade level or by reading component. You can print out the resources, laminate them and save yourself a lot of time for making center activities.

The Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) is a multidisciplinary research center at Florida State University. FCRR explores all aspects of reading research-basic research into literacy-related skills for typically developing readers and those who struggle, studies of effective prevention and intervention, and psychometric work on formative assessment.

This website (www.teachervision.com) offers several professional development resources for teachers, such as Teaching Strategies, Assessment Resources, Portfolios, Classroom & Behavior Management Strategies and Tips, and etc. This article in particular discusses how to create effective learning centers within the classroom.

The website for my middle school's media center has a few excellent links.  We have links to eLibrary access, World Book Online, The Library of Congress, Teaching Books for Students, EBSCOhost, ThomsonGale database, Tumblebooks, the Lexile Framework for Reading, the ERIC online library, and the Florida Information Resource Network.

Can learn about research studies in progress or look at specific categories such as ELL, teacher quality, Math, etc... If your institution has some continuing education funds, the Center for Digital Story Telling offers workshops, an online store, and a free quarterly newsletter.

As a beginning teacher this website helped me form center activities for my students. It gives you everything you need or it tells you what to get to make the activity complete. Just print cut and laminate! Great resource to get centers started and then just change out once kids are gaining mastery.

The Florida Center for Instructional Technology is located at USF and is funded by the Florida Department of Education.  It provides links to numerous educational technology resources.

The Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT) provides leadership, instructional materials, and support services to educational institutions with regard to the integration of technology into K-20 education. Has thousands of royalty-free clipart and images.

I really like the resources for presentations and technology incorporation in the classroom in the Educational Technology Clearinghouse section of the site.

This site provides links to multiple sites that have interactive assignments and games for all different grade and skill level.

Math Machine Archive: Math Games The Math Machine brings you a great collection of math games that you can share with your students. Here in The Math Machine you will find links to more than 50 online games that will help you teach and reinforce important math skills. Search the list below for games you might use with your whole class in your schools computer lab, or you might schedule students to use these games on computers in your classroom computer center. These games make great reward time activities too.

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) collects, analyzes and makes available data related to education in the U.S. and other nations. This site is very comprehensive and professional. For anyone interested in doing research.

FCRR has great resources and activities for use in the classroom. I use many of their activities during reading centers and intervention.

Great website for educators to access royalty free clip art, lesson plans, clip media, and presentations.

This website is AMAZING. It has clip-art, photographs, presentation images, maps, lessons, and answers to tech questions. There are so many images available, they are free (up to a certain amount, but it is very generous), it tells you exactly how to cite them, and it has options for file size and format.
