The Florida Humanities Council "Teaching Florida" website contains lesson plans and resources tied to Florida History and Humanities standards.  They also provide summer workshops for teachers to expand their knowledge about Florida humanities.

The purpose of Florida educator certification is to support the academic achievement of our students by assuring that our educators are professionally qualified for highly effective instruction. Florida educators must be certified to teach in our public schools and in many of our private schools. Being the "Teacher friend" in the group you always get asked for the certification process, this has all the information needed and I know I've used it plenty of times.

I really like the resources for presentations and technology incorporation in the classroom in the Educational Technology Clearinghouse section of the site.

I see a road trip in my near future.... I was quick to add this to my list of outdoor adventure planning! More of my favorites include Florida Fish and Wildlife Mgt, Florida State Parks, and Florida Trail. Parks scream out science lessons!

Great website for educators to access royalty free clip art, lesson plans, clip media, and presentations.

This website is AMAZING. It has clip-art, photographs, presentation images, maps, lessons, and answers to tech questions. There are so many images available, they are free (up to a certain amount, but it is very generous), it tells you exactly how to cite them, and it has options for file size and format. Florida Council for Exceptional Children website. Contains links to resources, organizations, and lesson plans that are beneficial to ESE teachers.

There is a proposal for all Florida schools to do away with textbooks and use digital devices such as ipad, kindles, etc... Clearwater High School and several other high schools around the State are currently experimenting with this new innovative concept.

I think this is a good and bad idea, I love the fact that students can use the technology, but what about students in areas that can't take advantage of these tablets. Also sometimes it is a bother to try and explain why we only have enough for one group and not the other. Now if we can get enough for everyone in all areas, then I am for it. Bottom line great! post, its really something to look forward to.

The State of Florida's Department of Education has an overall plan for the implementation of educational technologies in K12 schools. Below the conceptual graphic, you will find a link to the pdf of the complete 52 page document. It is worth a skim to find out how Florida schools' integration of technology compares to that of schools in other countries. There are also a number of resources available to Florida teachers of which you may be unaware.

According to this FDOE 2012 report, Florida has a plan to incorporate technology in our schools, which involves provision of "personalized learning" environments, staff training and leadership, and availability of networks.

Despite having several densely-populated urban and suburban areas, Florida manages to serve its students with disabilities well, earning the highest rating of " Meets Requirements" from the U.S. Department of Education for its ability to provide special education services.
