I'm seeing more and more of these at conferences. This is a list of sites that explain how to do it. How to turn a cheap netbook into a Mac.

KeyCastr is a Mac OS X application that displays your keystrokes in a small floating window. It is intended to be used for screencasts or overhead projection, to emphasize what keystrokes need to be pressed when performing an action within an application.

Pencil is an animation/drawing software for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. It lets you create traditional hand-drawn animation (cartoon) using both bitmap and vector graphics. Pencil is free and open source.

Celestia is a free and open source space simulator that allows you to explore space right from your computer. Celestia is available for download on Windows, Mac OS X, and even Linux. Celestia has many very cool features, including an eclipse finder. Not only does the eclipse finder allow you to find solar and lunar eclipses on Earth, but you can seek eclipses on other planets as well. I found out something really cool when checking out eclipses on Jupiter - because Jupiter is very large and has many moons, solar eclipses are very common.

I don't really understand all about this project out of MIT but want to learn more about it. Thi s is what they say on their site: "ikuli is a visual technology to search and automate graphical user interfaces (GUI) using images (screenshots). The first release of Sikuli contains Sikuli Script, a visual scripting API for Jython, and Sikuli IDE, an integrated development environment for writing visual scripts with screenshots easily. Sikuli Script automates anything you see on the screen without internal API's support. You can programmatically control a web page, a desktop application running on Windows/Linux/Mac OS X, or even an iphone application running in an emulator. "

For those using linux, this linux app finder helps you find what will replace other apps that you may be used to.

Mac users, I've heard this is a great tool.

Use this to create an encrypted drive for your financial records if you have them on your laptop! Remember to backup the folder as well! It is free. I would also recommend this for those who have private files on their computer like guidance counselors.
