A survey instrument designed to measure K-12 online teachers' knowledge with respect to three key domains as described by the TPACK framework: technology, pedagogy, content, and the combination of each of these areas.

It is a self-assessment survey. The respondents were asked to rate their own knowledge of a set of tasks related to technology, pedagogy, content, and blending of these areas with a question of "How would you rate your own knowledge in doing the following tasks associated with teaching in a distance education setting?".

I think there is need for deep understanding what's going on in the classes and more training for teachers in order to use all these technologies effectively.

Tuğba, I would be interested in reading a broader study that looks at Fatih Project from different perspectives of designers, students, administrators, teachers, parents etc. Any educational innovation needs to look at the implication from the holistic perceptive. Therefore, a larger scope qualitative study would really help.

The results of the current study show that teachers involved in Fatih Project were especially content with being able to make their lessons visually more appealing for their students. They were, however, not satisfied with the in-service training provided, especially in understanding ways to effectively integrate the technologies into their teaching, and the limitations put upon Internet access from the tablets. The impacts of these tools on their teaching practices were very minimal.

After reading the text, I realized how social attitude toward mobile learning can be a decisive factor in terms of its integration into education.

You probably came across the famous quote by Dr. Ray Clifford saying "Technology will not replace teachers, but teachers who do not use technology will be replaced." Well, that might change sooner than we had anticipated. Some companies have been working very hard for several years to manufacture real-time translation devices like the one mentioned in the article attached. Although most of the attempts are too immature to be taken seriously, I think we will have devices in the next decade that are able to translate satisfactorily across languages. Whether this will have a tangible impact on language teaching professionals is yet to be seen.

This is not related with this week's topic, yet I found it interesting. SAMR is a framework for integrating technology into the classroom. It may help to assess ourselves as teachers while designing our learning activities.

This infographic is about the teachers' ranking the hottest educational trends. I chose this one on purpose with the aim of presenting some attitudes towards new trends in teaching and learning. This infographic reveals North American teachers' appraisals related to educational technologies. It was interesting for me to see that they attached far less importance to interactive whiteboards and digital games in education.

This infographic is to show some dynamics that make a shift to technology in education necessary. Examples given in it present the alterative power the internet has. And, the personalized learning is one of the most important advantages of technology use as an alternative to "one-size-fits-all" models as discussed in readings, which is emphasized in this infographic too.

I guess, depending on the case, the answer is both. As presented in the infographic, there are situations -for example where people can not reach schools as a result of various reasons- that make online tools a good alternative for the schools. I believe that "alternative" is a keyword for this discussion and presenting people different choices is a good approach for me. There are ideas emphasizing that "technology will not replace teachers but teachers who do not use technology will be replaced" which can be agreed upon; yet, there are others too. For example, can we ignore the ideas of progressivists if they aim to use technology to create the ideal conditions that can not be realized in institutionalized schools for the education they think the most proper?

Of course, we cannot ignore "use of technology" to create ideal conditions for today's education settings. Then, it can be said use effectively and benefited from it or them.
